I guess I have to skip more PoE2 leagues from now on to be able to finish my PoE1 leagues/challenges.

early March....
PoE2 league collapsed in the holidays, only temple exploiters play the game now. There is no point of playing PoE2 league anymore, maybe SSF. You can't do two things at the ame time and deliver the same quality.
Since PoE2 launched overall quality is lower than when we had only PoE1. It's quite obvious outcome and something you should expect by doing two things at the same time. The problem is that they want to eat cookie and to have the cookie. You can't have two releases in December so they are trying to have them as close as possible together so at the end of the year one league will start late November and the second in December. Personally, right now I'm really into Poe2 — I don't know yet if I'll play Poe1, I think it will depend on the content.

POE1 won't have a new season for another 5 months. As expected, POE1 was always sacrificed for POE2.
