Luckily for the community, GGG does not agree with you. There is no real upside to unrestricted expression in a video game, and plenty of downsides.

Upside is that it upsets crybabies and virtue signalers which is always a win.
Can't think of any downsides.

Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

Pretty much this.

No downsides to censorship in videogames? You clearly must've not played a lot of videogames, or seen what happens to companies who decide to die on the hill of catering to the hypersensitive, forever offended crowds. Most of them are, or will soon be, gone, thankfully.

People hate being policed around and having to walk on eggshells because some crybaby is offended by words on the internet. Especially when engaging in an activity that is meant to be fun and relaxing. Thankfully GGG understands this and ToS or no, they don't take these things seriously. Because they shouldn't. "I am offended by a random stranger's choice of name in a game" isn't a stance anyone should ever take seriously.
