As for the Diablo comment, thanks for clarifying your intent, it read differently in tone, but fair enough. And yes, on Last Epoch, I used ‘very well’ in relative terms: stable player retention, active development, and a strong community response post-launch, not purely financials.

Yes. As i mentioned before, offline mode isn’t coming to PoE; mainly because of proprietary systems and architecture, not because piracy would sink the model.

Sadly, this is the way games simply "are" in the modern era. Be it single player OR multiplayer.

The big companies like to maintain control in ways they almost never did in the past. Not sure exactly what caused this shift in tone. Maybe it was always there, the technology to stop the modding community simply didn't exist.

Suffice to say: the reason games are online only are for the security of the product, as well as the control of the product. Additionally, patching is much smoother and games are now released "incomplete" more and more often, with regular patching being forced on us.


The days of us COMPLETELY owning the game upon purchase, right down to the source code, is gone. We are basically renting space in the server instead of buying an actual game in the modern world.

people play this game to grind for money and buy godly items. if they make single player then there will be editors giving any item u want, and people wont play it anymore
