This is absolutely not the case. The Vault has specific text when you first discover it that states you will find the Idol in a connected map. If the bug happens to you, then that text is no longer shown on your vault.

The text disappeared for me even when I did drop an idol naturally. That's probably just a small bug.

Let me ask you this - why would they make it tradeable if they gave you a 100% chance of finding an idol in one of the maps? It can't be as a failsafe if you lose all other connected maps before finding one, since the other deadly bosses have fail states if you don't click enough pillars around the maps.

So yeah I'm 99% sure it's not a bug. Might have been a last minute decision leading to some confusion in-game.

This is working as intented, just git gud.

It is bugged! It supposed to drop guaranteed idol from one of connected nodes. Every connected node I checked had monoliths that spawn bosses as well, so I expect, they just did it like drop with a chance, so you should get one from one of the connected nodes, but with chance the smaller, the more nodes involved. So it happens, that things that supposed to be guaranteed in fact is not guaranteed at all. You also can't have it tredable and get one from another similar node, because this makes no sense - why should I take special item from another node to unlock this one?

This is very new and unique mechanic, so bugs\chances\balance issue are more than expected.

Same here. No idol found. Stuck. It cant be that we are supposed to buy one for around 200ex ??? I'm on ps5 if that makes any difference.

I can confirm this, as I've done a ton of maps around sealed vault and no idol drops. It really increases the prices of some gems and the prices for idols is crazy. I hope this is not as intended and it gets fixed soon if it's an oversight.

I currently have three Sealed Vaults on my atlas, and two of them have an inaccessible map next to them. For one of those I cleared every map connected to the vault (except the inaccessible one), for the other two most, but I did not find an idol yet.

Maybe the game puts in the map with the idol after generating the Vault, but then the connections fail at times? (I remember that there was some sort of bug with more than four connections in a previous patch, where stuff at least was shown wrong on the atlas at times.)
Also looking at this youtube video, where someone claims to find the statue (at 7:57 - not quite sure, seems a bit off in general, the quality is low, there is a cut at around 7:34,...), the interesting part is also the atlas, where the Creek he opens (look at 0:09) has all of its four connections intersecting with other lines. At least on my yet very small atlas this does not occur.

In the end still just speculation, of course. (If by chance ggg sees this - by now I bought an idol and finished one of the Vaults, still there is one map next to it, which is completely inaccessible. I pinned and named it "NotConnected".)

Cleared every map connected to the Vault and even one connection further from them. No idol in sight.
