The fact they don't let Steam pre-patch is unforgivable. Absolutely no reason they can't do on Steam what they do for consoles which is download the package files, then wait until go time and push a much smaller patch that copies and installs the package locally.

The fact they REFUSE to do this tell you all you need to know about GGG. Steam players are second class to console.

Another point I wish GGG could comprehend.

If the torrent DL is meant for people with slow connections, what is the point of making the DL over 2 and a half times as large? If it would take 4-6 hours to download the patch on a slow connection, why would an 18 hour download with the release less than that make any sense.

Not to mention the fact the torrent seeds at 200KB/s, so it's going to take what? 5 days to download?!

I propose the following solution... Take the servers down now and push the patch to steam immediately.

I predict servers will be down for 24 hrs

No actual decent preload time period for a almost 50gb update is diabolical for those of us that use steam and don't have access to crazy fast internet, I'll be at least 5 hrs late to launch sadly.
