Where are the Greater Essences?

I have fully committed to Essences in the bottom right of my Atlas tree.
I see 1 Essence like once every... 15~20 maps?
I have seen a total of 2 Greater Essences drop so far in my whole playthrough.
They may as well not exist.

Atlas tree is not as important in POE 2.
It is next to useless compared to POE 1, because without the right tablets it simply does not work.

This of course leads to additional investment, that you must do, if you want to run any atlas tree mechanic.

And some mechanics require additional currency for each encounter.
Bottom right essence nodes aside, you get essences, if you use essence tablets and boss nodes to get more essences on boss maps, using vaal orb before releasing the essence trapped monster, using extra essence waystone, running the essence unique map (dangerous with extra essence on waystone). Also by reforging... OR by running Azak Bog: respawn on checkpoint next to the ritual, move to the other end of the circle and there is often an essence or two. The last thing is usually done before you get to maps, if you need them that bad. You get lots of XP there, anyway. Cheers!
HC SSF. What else? Ruthless when?

Yeah, I think the patch notes that claimed to have 'massively' increased the chances of Lesser->Greater->Corrupted essences is pure gas-lighting. Divine Orb drops are more common.
Okay but "1 essence every 15 maps" sounds insane. I get essences 1 out of 3 maps. And I didn't commit anything to the tree.

More so, if you want greater essences, you need to commit to corrupting the Essences. Sure it's RNG, but I'd say it's pretty much mandatory if you want to see greater essences.

As for THE greater essences. Probably the only way is to get the cave map that has a super boss battle with all of the essences and make sure to corrupt all of them.

This is not so smart, for anything but very specific end-game builds.
I would even rate this comment with "suggesting suicide".

The worst part is that this map is not common.

Whenever you attempt it, over-feed the boss, and then fail, it may take few hours until you get to another...

And when you get to the next, it is not a fact that you will not overfeed it again and fail.

Questionable way to make essences.
To say the least...

With the tablets and double corrupting them, it is decent amount of currency. Was better than boxes wisp and exiles for sure.

I did not like the "changing into another" corrupt.

I mean, what is the point of having them roll better into the expensive ones, and then have the chance to change them from the expensive ones, into 1 exalt garbage...

The issue is, that I'm already using up my Vaal Orbs trying to corrupt t15s for a t16. My success ratio is currently 2:39.
I simply don't have the Vaal Orbs available to corrupt every single Essence cluster.

You didn't even address what he said lol so I will

Its known the essences need a massive buff. The droprate is abysmal at best and your experience is the norm right now unfortunately. Hoping 0.3 buffs them a lot, as it's one of the only ways of "crafting" that exists.

Well, I mean that if you vaal everything, and do the right tablets, you can get decent currency out of this mechanic.

Because they do not drop often, you sell them for good amount of currency when they drop. And then use this currency.

But yes, I understand how you see crafting with them so expensive and not affordable for regular players, by no means.

But they are expensive, because they work. You can control outcome with them, and with some omens and recombination you can pull a mirror worth item.

Maybe "some" buffs are in order. But not that much to make them common find and lower their price to oblivion.

(Anyway, if we are going to make them "common", this economy reset is great, because it will not mess up the stockpiles of people who have been farming them for profit)
