is poison dead or something
1% use is still a fair bit of use. Some very strong and popular items have not all that much more than that. Svalinn - 8%, Nimis - 9%, Yoke of suffering - 7%. Also being that poison is not a generic stat, it basically means it will never be used on any build that is not a poison build. I'm not sure how much poison builds are being played, but it looks to have been used on about 50% of poisonous concoction builds.
There is a lot of build archetypes. If there is say 2% of builds poision builds, that might be a bit of an under-representation, but probably not a lot. Looking on POE ninja, the meta appears to me to be fairly balanced currently. No skills over 10% usage and only trickster over 10% usage at 13%. Witch 26% combined overall is a bit high for the classes, but nothing extreme. I don't remember seeing it that closely balanced for a long time, if ever. |

" yeah ive probably did something wrong in my search since i saw just a couple of players using it, but on second look there is much more. still the poison skill i used felt underwhelming. i mean with an almost mirror tier claw and mb it was just decent... |

Yeah I think some people have pointed out some of the reasons for this in the thread. Ideally for balance in the game, I think for two relative builds, the DOT build should do more damage than the hit build, since you have to wait for the damage and are in danger. There are some benefits to DOT as well, but I think it probably needs to be higher in dps than hit to be on parity. Then with the DOT cap as well, im not reaching that on my builds, but it is something that will be preventing some play at the top end because of the ceiling.
It may be that poison could use a bit more buff relative to the other DOT damage types. I think they may be conservative on values, because of how it stacks, they don't want it to get too powerful. It might be that they need to keep it in check, but this makes it tough on the lower end. The application of the poison is part of it as well. I think for most builds it is harder to get it stacked, rather than one big ignite then moving to a safe location for 4 seconds. So in that regard, perhaps poison should tend to be higher dps than ignite because it is more difficult to apply. Some skills like Bouncing PC, don't run into so much of a problem with this, being ranged, aoe and multi hit, but it might be a factor on some other skills. I think in general chaos DOT is not that strong at the moment, but there might be some good options going around. Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Aug 5, 2025, 7:16:13 AM

" half of your points are the opposite, when you apply a dot you are in far less danger than anything other than a bow build, brands and totems. dots should never scale higher than hits because of this. poison is very much fine and strong, can get very tanky too. |

dots are often better at bossing,if you cant instant kill them with a broken build
hits are better for mapping |
