You can do this on POB .

I do use POB but there are few issue with this approach

- the numbers are not correct as the are not using the same math that is in game
- some effects are being missed
- the update takes some time to catch up to the game
- some few aspect are not applicable in POB

in top of it all this is not POE 1 the playing machinic is different and the fun part is to test your build even if is it is just for fun as some the showcases build shared by the game developers and player community

1. The numbers in the game are tested thoroughly by a dedicated community before the calculations are set in POB, and they are 100% theoretically accurate.

2. You can update your character to the server by switching areas, and this will update for an import into POB.

3. You can add custom modifiers for anything not available in the current release of POB, if the modifier is incalculable then you will just have to test it, and you can do that by saving your current build so you have a template to respec back into.

But yeah, it would be nice to have build overlay features in game. They said they might work on importing build guides and I imagine if that happens then you can save your build as a guide and overlay it on your tree.

I totally agree it will be perfect even in that situation.

Hope I can see it in the up coming update.
Along with saving builds, I think it would be nice if we could "favourite/highlight" some nodes on the passive tree, and allow players to highlight paths to get to certain nodes. I think that would help players out immensely (especially if it has "suggested" routes for players to take, or even better yet, coincided with Path of Building).

So often when I am in the game, I am looking for specific nodes and wanting to map out directions on how to get there. While playing, I either forget them, or I end up searching for other nodes, and then end up forgetting all the nodes that I wanted to build towards. If we were able to lay down a path to certain nodes, and either have the game automatically place the passive points for us (so we can keep levelling up) OR at least highlight paths for us, that would be a HUGE quality of life update for new players.

Not everyone uses, or is going to use, PoB, even though it is a great tool. Since I first heard of PoB, I thought it would be SOOOO AMAZING if GGG would let us sync our PoB build with POE. I understand that is likely A LOT of extra work/money, though I still think that would be next level dope (like how dope RuneLite plugins are for RuneScape). It is a big ask, and that is why I think it would be a great QoL update if GGG gave us some in-game tools so that we could plan out our builds: just a simple method of allowing players to highlight some passive nodes and draw a route there (or having PoE suggest routes to take if we highlight a few nodes on the tree could be EVEN better).
Let's work together to make this world a better place :)

I can't agree more this QoL is very important and it did happen to me as well.
but luckily for me I am already getting familiar with the tree and playing around with the nodes to test . there for I want to have this build in feature of saving a return button to my build before I started playing around with it :)
I like the idea of having an armory like in D4 and DI. But remember it took 7 seasons in order for it to be implemented after its initial release.

I don't see what's wrong with having an armory. Yes, PoE 2 isn't D4. But armories or saving builds had nothing to do with D4. It's not a D4 only idea.
This is a D3 feature not D4, and games did it before D3.

I also have a job and not a ton of time to play, but the reason i still play path of exile IS the complexity and choices i have to commit to. There are plenty of games that do the things you want this game to do, and every single one of them is a shallow, boring experience that lasts a week.

I dont want to be able to try out every build in the game on one character easily and without any time commitment. Once there is no sense of discovery you will stop playing. Just play the games that already do all these things you like. Maybe thats the reason you arent playing them...because of how boring it becomes so quickly.
