POE2 Trial of the Sekhemas: 3 floors is still way too much for 3rd ascendancy

I'm at level 83 lightning spear and opened the 3rd trial with a level 71 coin and finally beat it. Was certainly not fun as I had to go through it like 5 times, losing all them. Two of those losses was at the 2nd round on those two bosses.

It is very long, tedious and grueling. It is a bit too much. Maybe just the first two rounds of it would have been sufficient to get your 3rd ascendency.

Many people say that you need the right relics. However, you need to acquire those relics first. You can not just get the perfect relics at your first ascendency for later use on your 3rd. And you can not open that relic box to hold a good amount of relics for use during the 3rd trials. You would have to enter and lose a few times to gain those better relics and to open that relic box to further hold even more relics. Then you can park more relics in to be able to pass that 3rd round and final boss.

Its such a frustrating mess imo. I do not know how a beginner player would even pass this. It is a bit absurd.

When I finally got it, I was actually not excited for achieving it. The frustrations and time invested outweighed the joy of getting it. I finished it shaking my head...

I'm like lvl 75 already running tier-4-5 maps with the same build as you LOL

And that is totally my experience except after 6 times I just plain quitted lmao

I doubt I'll get back into poe2, it was all frustration after frustration for me.

I'll stick to poe1 and last epoch for now and GGG will have a lot of works to do get me back in poe2 LOL
There is no mystery to defeating Sekhemas Barya level 80.

First finish some lower level Sekhemas to unlock the entire Relic panel.

Then obtain, drop or craft some urn relic and/or seal relic with the following afixes:

Increased Maximum Honour
Increased Honour Resistence

With that, just try to get a route with less afflictions and negative things like random curses, increased HP for mobs, try to make the safest route possible.

If you get enough holy water during the run, prioritize buying Damage Increase for yourself and Life Reduction for monsters from the merchant.
The Trials of Sekhemas Are Badly Designed — Here’s Why

I’ve put in hours trying to get my fifth and sixth ascendancy points, and the experience has been nothing short of miserable.

The Problems:

1. Debuffs – Unfun and punishing to the point of being discouraging.

2. Honour System – This is the worst offender. Even with 40% Honour Resistance, on the third floor with 700 Honour left, I got hit once and instantly lost 600. That’s absurd. The fact that Honour loss scales up as you progress makes it worse.

3. Traps – They’re fine as a mechanic, but taking Honour from them in addition to enemies just piles on unnecessary frustration.

4. Boss Design – The second boss fight throws two giants with massive AOE attacks at you. Without utility flasks like in PoE1, movement speed is RNG-based. If you didn’t roll movement buffs on gear, you’re stuck relying on luck instead of skill.

Why This Is Bad Design:

The game isn’t built for “never get hit” gameplay — especially in long, multi-floor encounters where mistakes are inevitable. Losing massive chunks of Honour to a single hit on the final floor feels awful, especially when it means your run is dead after an hour+ of perfect play. Add in the fact that retries are locked behind token RNG, and it’s a recipe for player burnout.

This isn’t challenging in a satisfying way — it’s tedious, overly punitive, and wastes player time. Difficulty should come from engaging fights and skill expression, not arbitrary punishment multipliers.

As a sidenote: To all of you saying "get gud" without any constructive response? You're garbage. You being good at an arbitrary section of a video game, makes you as important as the dirt stuck under your unwashed fingernails you haven't cut in three months. You aren't better than anyone else here, and you pretending like you are just shows how little grass you've touched. Grow up and shut up.

mostly +1 this , also the trial is way 2 long.
I'm a MAPS not LAPS kinda guy myself. It's cool to have challenges but some of them take way too long to do.
I dont like this activity, personally, in either version of the game. But I am familiar enough with it from POE 1 to know what to expect going into it.

However, I think there needs to be a gradual introduction of the different mechanics present in this, especially for newer players. Maybe something along the lines of:

For Ascendancy points 1-6 all floors should be two rooms shorter

1st Ascendancy - introduces the Honor system with no random room de-buffs, maybe only from the Pacts you can buy. This allows new players to focus only on Honor and its effect throughout the run and to drop some relics for later.

2nd Ascendancy - introduces De-buffs but maybe only 1 column of them.

3rd Ascendancy - as it is now, just with two less rooms on each floor.

4th Ascendancy - as it is now

its shit.

Its not challenging
Its not fun

It is an absolute time waster.
You need to play it and fail enough times to collect the special items that will
allow you to finish it..

Aaaaaaaaannnnd IM OUT

I wont play a time waster and this game is 100% going the direction
of a time waster.

move nice and slow .....
through large spaces ....
with trials that waste more of your time ..
with vendors spaced out all over to waste your time
with too many mouse clicks required to do anything

why doesnt the mtx shop work like this...
why can i buy something on my credit card in 4 clicks
but it takes me 63 mouse clicks to run a map!

ohh look its the same game but nothing drops, to prolong doing nothing.
you cant craft anything ...

The buy your gear from the market and the mtx store are the most streamlined aspects of the game .... sad

Sweaty time waster .....

is this sarcasm/joke? I can never tell these days...

if you are seriously bothered with amount of actions it takes to play the game, maybe watching a stream will be more fun for you? i'm not even poking fun, i legitimately enjoy to watch some games rather than play them
No man i like playing the game .

Is the game for you run vendor to vendor to accomplish tasks that should be all at one place?

Or do you not notice that you can buy mtx faster than you can buy a sword in game ?
did you not see that the acendancies are all mini games disconnected entirely from the actual game mechanics , that they include buffs and buff items specific to that zone and that they require doing the zone to acquire? Its a pure time waster.

Did you see how the trials devalue your character build?
How they function off damage mechanics that do not apply to the game you have been playing ?

This game is a time waster . not a grinder , a time waster ...
its why it grates on people to play it...
you feel it in every aspect of the game ...

This sweaty, time wasting overly clicky slot machine game ...
its annoying to play .

Not fun
not challenging
annoying, unfulfilling, time waster, full of deliberate mechanics to do just that.

I dunno man, you say you like the game but then you say you hate the very basis of it?
Maybe i play the game much differently then you. I don't buy my gear, i don't gamble for it, i filter a lot of drops so i don't have bunch of items to deal with, and vendoring with ctr+lmb is 2 clicks which is heavens better than ID scrolls. Trials are like maps to me but with quirky mechanics. But on the other hand i don't even interact with cancer domain (breach) or sim.
but no matter what i choose to do, i only feel i waste my time if i don't enjoy myself.
hell i even 'enjoy' when i die because some of my deaths are pure comedy. like when that purified spike head rare mob 'bonked' me with his spike, or my witch with 0ms decided to handle lost towers boss because she did that byrd number of times in chaos trial just to find out its much tougher with + levels. minions got wiped and in panic she was running around slowly getting pummeled by the falling rocks without even trying to get close to the boss. this is fun to me lol
