Input causing lag after a while

Game runs perfectly fine, but after like an hour or two any input starts lagging the game. Whether that be pressing a button or moving the mouse around. As soon as input stops, framerate stabilises again.

Specifically the CPU bar goes up when this happens. Restarting the game temporarily fixes the issue.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
MEM: 32GB, about half of which was in use when this last happened
OS: Linux with Proton 9.0-3.
Same thing happens on Proton 7.0 and Proton Experimental

Video of this happening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2OX10_9U_M

Changing Renderer or Multithreading changes nothing. Triple-Buffering automatically turns itself back on if I try to disable it.

i'm having the same problem on linux with proton
Same thing on linux with native poe. This definitely is an issue and needs fixing.
I don't think there is a native client. Website offers only Windows and Max, and so does Steam.

But it looks like this only affects Linux users. Might just be a problem with Proton, then...
I'm on linux and I also have this problem

edit: I think this is a steam issue, i fixed it by reinstalling proton and ENABLING steam overlay.

Found people having a similar issue in other games and they recommended unsetting LD_PRELOAD. Game has been running for 2 hours since I've done that and it seems to work so far.

If you don't have any other launch options, it would be:
"
LD_PRELOAD="" %command%

I'm also using gamemoderun, though.
Yep, same, proton experimental, debian. Trying command.

- Worked

Things have been laggy with me since the recent steam update which enables automatically recording your gameplay without your knowledge or consent. Unreal that a company would by default begin buffering and recording all video game play without telling there users. I guess we can thank windows for leading the way with this stupid feature:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/23B7-49AD-4A28-9590

I've disabled that and haven't had any lag. The LD_PRELOAD may actually just be preventing some new libraries to support that little bit of additional malware from running. I love what steam is doing for gaming on linux, but like them less and less every release. I need to take the time to figure out how to run path of exile without steam, it probably isn't that difficult.

Ah yes, recording your game and keeping the recording in memory for 2 hours and only save it when requested is basically the same as Microsoft recording absolutely everything and storing it indefinitely. Yup.

That aside, I knew about it the moment it was introduced, and at least for me it defaults to no recording. So I really don't know what you're on about.

And since it was already set to not record, that wasn't the issue. It is something steam is doing, though - this would not have occurred without steam.
