This league turned out to be kinda bad for some players?

PoE hasn't kept my interest very long each league since they stopped bothering to hide the game just being map spam. Spamming is profoundly boring and against everything an ARPG should stand for. Every Dev tries so hard to be Diablo 2/3 they totally miss the things Diablo 1 did better.
D2 boss spam was most likely a mistake compounded by Magic Find. D1 didn't have this and it's itemization is considerably better as result. You could spend as much time on a dungeon level as you wanted long as you were doing things because everything was rewarding. Opening chests, killing no-names, killing bosses. Didn't really matter. Kingsmarch essentially doubling down on map spam while offering no meaningful dialog, characters or quests of any kind easily makes it uninteresting in my eyes. Everyone else sees Settler content as not being good enough.
I, as someone who got a mirror shard once on a 15mil value shipment, sees this as borrowed power that almost certainly will not be added to core. As such, I avoid interacting with the content further so I can not be a part of the inevitable "poverty league" complaints when the next league rolls around. Honestly, those who barely made a handful of divines this entire league through Kingsmarch are lucky. They will miss it the least. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. | |

I love this league. I almost completely ignore the league mechanic apart from faustus but that's more than enough. Playing a "standard" league with faustus on top of it is good enough for me. In fact Faustus alone is better than every single league I've played since poe's first league!

" Uh......duh? It's the same as every crafting option that we currently have. "Gather materials, interact with npc or bench, craft". Fundamentally there is no difference in Kingsmarch than, say, expedition (2021) or OG harvest (2020) or even Bestiary (2018). GGG is on complete recycle mode, except they just try to draw out the process as long as possible now, with as little top end power as possible. People like to think its somehow different just because they added the extra step of waiting for materials and waiting for shipments, but the core design is just a direct copy with inferior ends. It was fun and strong but the micromanagement got old fast. Also I had to log in before work to refill my dust NPCs...

If Kingsmarch go to core it should be fully upgraded and be available after Act 10.

" still upgrading mine. and building up crops and dust to be able to make bigger shipments. - but i already see the outcome, it will end like last league with me having 4 quads of coffins and no time to make something useful out of it. not complaining, it's just that the early mageblood drop i had last league heavily shifted my expection of "what i'ts worth" when it comes to rewards. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I had WOD Garrison vibes off this mechanics when it was first announced, but thankfully it wasn't so bad. WOD Garrison was bad because it replaced normal gameplay with sending followers, which could be condensed to logging into the game twice per day for 5 minutes each. And it never ran out of steam, in fact it was self-sustaining - sending missions costed garrison resources but some missions had GR as reward itself.
Kingsmarch was much better balanced, where it couldn't really be sustained forever without heavy gameplay involved. Also it didn't scaled with the number of your characters and was league-wide instead. WOD garrison was ridiculous because you could stack 10 characters on one server to apply 10X multiplier to your gold and resources gained. Overall, I didn't mind this system but I don't want it to go fully core. I don't want this overarching "FOMO" of needing to grind gold constantly and keeping the farms going 24/7 in every subsequent league, especially once this mechanic gets pushed aside in favor of new league mechanics. What I do want to go core: -Faustus currency exchange (i mean if this doesn't go core we riot lol) -Respec for gold -Gambling for items for gold (this is also faustus i think) -Boss encounters from Kingsmarch. Make them bosses in new T17 maps, we need more layouts of those. |
