Please avoid time limited mechanics for PoE2
You've been solving a lot of these problems with the atlas tree, but in its base form, and historically, a huge swathe of the league mechanics in PoE1 have been time based.
The problem with this is that it only accommodates a high DPS speed meta. You cannot interact well with Incursion, Legion, Breach, Blight, Delirium, and probably more in any positive way with a lower DPS build. And not only that, but it's not really a risk vs reward scenario either. It's literally only a DPS check, and if you don't pass it you don't get anything out of it, and because pretty much every single league mechanic is designed to be higher level than the current map, what it does is it forces you to play the game on lower tier maps where you just one shot everything instead of being allowed to play on a more challenging difficulty. I sincerely hope that going forward in leagues in PoE2 that we don't see time based approaches for mechanics, because it really doesn't need to be that way, and it forces the meta of the game in a certain direction. A fast clear build is its own reward, and it doesn't have to be doubled down on with time limits and DPS checks. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. | |
I honestly do not think time based mechanics work all that well from what I have seen of poe 2.
They seem less interested in have your character kill things. More in having your character fight things. But who knows. |

There's a reason I always block delirium,legion,breach,blight etc. every league and never touch those mechanics. I don't like being rushed by the game. | |

Bout the only thing on that list that really is a time crunch is legion/breach. And thats because they heavily incentivize ranged/aoe. Not really anything to do with dps, just a proper setup and ranged/area is all.. Blight... towers do all the work... you dont care about time... Incursion... you can clear it in the campaign without worrying about time... Delirium... you put it on your map and there is no time limit... Dont really see the issue. Mash the clean

So you are telling me people with better builds with better dps perform better than bad builds with low dps?Who would have thought?
And looking at your profile you don't have a single good character...like ever.Your highest char is lvl 88. Your char this league is literally lvl 45. Is always the same thing about these threads, the people making them have 0 knowledge but want the game to adapt to them. Nah they very heavily favoured speed in league mechanics in the past, they have however really backed it down and I genuinely think they learned this lesson already.
For example Affliction years ago would 100% have been a timed mechanic where we had to race round to get as many wisps as possible - instead we had a step limited mechanic so you could get them at your own pace without issue. Basically I agree with OP but I also think they are doing a much better job of having speed be its own reward rather than a requirement. May that continue! |
