Unable to connect to PoE server (after bugging out when trying to switch characters)

Hello!

I have been playing this game for around 10 years (on/off daily) and never really had any connection issues.

Today, as I was standing in town, I wanted to switch characters. As I clicked the "exit to character select" button, nothing happened. I was not sure If I misclicked, so I opened up the menu again and clicked "Exit Game" - nothing happened.

I pressed alt f4 to force close the game.

Then I relaunched the game (from Steam) and got to the log in screen. No matter what gateway I will select, it says after a minute of thinking "unable to connect to login servers".


I have tried:
1) restarting PC
2) trying from a different PC in my house that has PoE - same problem/won't connect
3) restarting router several times and waiting several minutes
4) flushing DNS
5) disabling firewall
6) disabling antivirus
7) trying standalone client - "unable to connect to patching server"
8) emailing support with WinMTR snapshot - "we don't do technical support"

9) VPN - YES, IT WORKS WITH VPN. But I desperately need it to work without a permanent VPN solution. It had been working for years and years just a day ago.

I would also like to point out that the PoE website is working just fine and I am able to connect to any other game except PoE without a problem.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have seen many threads like this in the forum over the years, but most of them are abandoned without a single reply.

I got the exact same thing, i pressed "exit to character select" and then nothing happened game went weird and i pressed "exit" nothing happened there aswell so i just alt f4. And now for the past maybe 4 hours it just says "unable to connect to login server".

Oh wow, I thought that I might have imagined it. But it looks like it really did happen that way then. Very annoying... still no luck getting back in.

Have same problem, after looking how to fix it found this https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1377789 and did it step by step . now will hope it might help . no respond yet

Yep. I eventually got to that forum post too and tried the things mentioned there. So far nothing works.

I think the best is to just hope and wait it out until it goes away on its own. IF IT GOES AWAY ON ITS OWN :)

Same. Got a crash few hours ago and now I can't connect to the PoE server when I open the client and it checks for updates.

Exacly the same issue here
Just wanted to do a speed run for a melee character, wanted to change characters and boom , game froze and i alt+f4 it , now it wont load and shows
-Unable to connect to patching server- error

Good to know that i am not the only one with this problem. If somehow it matter then login failed in EU region.
I'm glad that i found this post before i started to change my internet setting or test ports. I hope that time will fix it.

I think theres few Estonians here, im from Estonia too. Could it be that that theres something happening on our end?
