Frenzy skill gem change needs to be reverted

I use Frenzy as a melee exclusively. I think all the bow/melee gems are played most often by bow users rather than melee. However that is only my impression. No idea if that is correct.

Frenzy of Onslaught is just a bad design for a frenzy build, be it bow or melee. No one that puts a lot of effort into increasing max frenzy charges is going to be comfortable losing all the things they invested into frenzy doing, just for onslaught.

I assume most people are using Ralakesh for only 1 or 2 charge types as their focus. The others are just gifts.

Unless they change Frenzy of Onslaught to stop eating charges, or only eat charges if they DO NOT HAVE ONSLAUGHT, then this gem is going to see little to no use except with Ralakesh's Impatience. If using the gem with Ralakesh's is an acceptable power level for the gem, then just make it usable for everyone. Drop the damage multiple a few percentage points if needed to make this work.
Wow, Frenzy of Onslaught seems like an improperly planned skill deviation. There's no actual benefit for onslaught, just time. I could see if onslaught actually gave some sort of bonus, but it seems irrational to try to use this as a primary melee ability. It sounds incompatible with consistent gameplay due to the shift in speed and damage. You just lose your charges and capability, burning them for onslaught regularly if you hit fast. It's essentially perpetual onslaught up time at the cost of no consistency.

Looks like you're just forced to use the unique boots Ralakesh's Impatience.

yup, asked about the bows, because i dont want to transfer the problem to another person with the idea of changing the gems, base frenzy for melee , and the transfigured to bow, and end up ruining another persons build with a bad idea if they use it like melee does
I think the idea was to boost the base damage enough to offset the loss of charges. It seems like the devs of the skill didn't think about all the other things folks would be using frenzy charges for. Why would anyone use the Frenzy skill unless they wanted frenzy charges up 100% of the time?

For a build that doesn't focus on charges, I guess it is free Onslaught movement speed for a few seconds. I just can't imagine folks using the skill this way. Am I crazy?

nope, i considered people using it for support , but i dont think there are people who actualyl does that, since onslaught is a very easy buff to get in current poe, at least imo, just need the utily flask that gives onslaught, so its no like the buff its grants is a very strong and hard to get, if it was an exclusive buff that only the skill grants, or something that i admit would be overpowered like adrenaline, but as you said, it seems the transfigured version goes against the skill idea and philosophy that is stacking charges

edit= also, people that want frenzy charges would problably use either blood rage to get on kill, or redemmer chest right? its better than having to switch the skill your hitting with just to get the charges

Yeah, this was hands down the worst change in 3.25 - and the ONLY change I really think they should reverse. I'm VERY interested in knowing their reasons behind this change.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
I am guessing they saw that the support momentum worked ok and thought "hey, they can cycle through speed, so they should be able to cycle through charges."

The HUGE difference is that a build that uses a lot of frenzy charges will build around frenzy charges. Even if I only had 3 charges, I would just use a bigger damage strike rather than lose those charges.

Once it comes out I will play with it but it would wreck my current Frenzy builds. :(

Same, if the formula for averafe number pf frenzy charges in poewiko is correct, my averege is 3.5, rounding up to 4 , i lose 3 frenzy charges, thats at leats 21% more dmg and attack speed, and also lose evasion due to in my case, armour and evasion mastery making each frenzy charge giving 8% evasion if im not mistaken

They are giving +300 damage so the 21% damage loss from the gem is not an issue. There is also the loss from the charges themselves. I play in standard so it will be more like 72% damage from the gem and an additional 24% lost for me. I know the new skill will still be more damage. The speed loss is a big hit, but they are taking speed away from most things. It is all the other stuff, that on top of the attack speed that makes this rough for me.

This is not a balance change since you can keep your charges with Ralakesh's.

This probably affects few people so they likely will not even look at correcting this change. The funny thing is that it effects so few players because they make this skill so hard to be valuable.

+1, they killed the only physical fist build, Frenzy Hollow Palm, sadge... supposed to be melee league
