[3.20} Anomalous Impending Doom - Crit Based
Hello, In 3.20, the doom of hexes was removed and to compensate Impending Doom receive a huge buff in damage (double the base and now has 370% increased effectiveness) Impending doom is a support that triggers doom blast ( an aoe explosion ) when the supported hex ends. By making the hex end instantly using anomalous impending doom we can use doom blast as a spell caster. Gameplay Video with Kulemak

Key mechanics
Spoiler
1. Reduce duration of despair to 0 sec by using Dialla or Cane of Kulemak + skill effect duration ring and annoint 2. Use spell cascade to effectively cap proc rate. By default we need to reach 6 cast per second which is the cooldown of Impending doom. Let's say we have a cast speed of 2.2 on despair. By using spell cascade we get 3 overlaps which means that 2.2 * 3 we are procing it 6.6 times which is over the cooldown and caps us. Awakened Spell cascade will help us achieve that even better because it overlaps 5 times. Impending Doom does not get the less damage from spell cascade Getting cooldown recovery on belt , boots or the new balance of terror jewel will drastically increase damage 3. Level of Skill Chaos does not work on impending doom. This includes on amulet and from awakened Added chaos & void manipulation. The Anomalous Added Chaos damage gives a ton of Chaos pen with Dialla and Divergent Void Manipulation can get you chaos leech which is hard to get 4. This jewel is insane The Balance of Terror 25% increased Cooldown Recovery Rate if you've cast Temporal Chains in the past 10 seconds Inflict Withered for 2 seconds on Hit if you've cast Despair in the past 10 seconds Pros

How to calculate damage in POB
Spoiler
In POB the hit dps of doom blast isn't the real DPS, you need to calculate it yourself using the average hit ( 969 836 ) the cooldown ( 0.132 ) Since we have spell cascade effectively capping our proc rate we have 1/0.132 = 7.5 procs a second This example is using cooldown recovery belt ( normally it's 1/0.15 = 6.67 procs ) The DPS is 969 836 * 7.5 = 7.3 Million Initial Reddit post

Hey I saw your original post on reddit and I have been looking further into making an impending doom build, nice to see you are making a guide!
A question I have for you is why are you getting Forbidden Power ascendancy node through forbidden jewels? Wouldn't it be cheaper to allocate Forbidden Power directly and get Withering Presence through forbidden jewels? Those cost about 3.5 divines total as of writing. Btw will you also be including the cursed ground version? | |
Hey both forbidden jewels work. I guess the only advantage of using the forbidden Power on is that the small node you get is better with the 10 % increased damage instead of power charge duration.
For the cursed ground version, I only tried it for one map and personally didn't like it. While I tend to agree that using cursed ground over dialla would ultimately provide more damage and defences by trading a socket for chest slot, mechanically the cursed ground adds a bit of friction by adding a small delay before the first doom blast procs. I would rather leave someone that enjoys this set up provide a build for it. |

I love it so far, thanks for advices in game :)

That looks insanely strong. How much a shako like that is worth ?
|
|
How about divergent impending doom?
Is it worth it? Adding 1 more use before cooldown and 40% cdr. |
|
Divergent doesn't give cooldown reduction it actually reduces cooldown recovery by 40% which is really bad. It's 40 % less damage.
You would get 1 extra use so that means you would proc 4 instead of 3 in large packs but the 40 % decrease cooldown recovery would really kill the build in my opinion. |

" Oh ok that makes sense. |
