Just curious - how necessary is ancestral guardian? If mandatory, why not an elder helm?

With the insane price ashes is going for now, do you think this build is still league start viable in the upcoming 3.19 league? Would you recommend going pure fire damage with a focus on cast speed and crit still? I'd absolutely love to league start this but the chaos conversion seems like a hard breakpoint now in a league start scenario. Is this now more on the mid league build side of things?
