It's not really for the arcane surge the main purpose of ball lightning is the life gained on hit that you get, as it fires many projectiles and can hit many many times you get a ton of life back quickly with big packs of monsters. You can try to replace it with something else like blazing salvo or maybe some other skill. The corpse pact version is not using it and you are still doing fine life wise so surely it should be fine replacing it with something else. Try and see i guess. @GG_TWiF: Finally after 16ex i finished my helm. You can check my profile i already replaced some items and slowly prepare for melding. Idk why but is more faster with corpse pact then ball lightning anyway, i need 3 more cards for mageblood after i am ready. From my point the most important piece to go melding is megalomaniac with enduring composure and winter prowler. I wil drop zealotry and go for purity of ice and maybe i will get lucky with some recoup ring. Endgame should be amulet with +1 curse, stasis prison and power charge implicit ring. If you have a mageblood you don't need enduring composure you will already have like 50K armour which is 90% phys reduction don't really need endurance charges anymore then. Hey mate! Could you take a look on my build please? I'm super strugling with mana. I have to use 1 or 2 instant mana potion to compensate the mana starvation. So I decided to use in this build.
