RIP mages.

I guess we are back to golems... Hope that stays alive.

Hehe my friend, I wouldn't bank on it.
Unless massive changes comes during the patchnotes it looks like minion survivability will be in shambles. Atleast for golems, zombies and Spectres.

Most minions seem to be losing ALOT of life and it's already pretty hard to keep everything alive, especially dps minions since you want to run 4-5 dps supports and Minion Life reduces life by 25%.

If I'm not misstaken, active minions that you have to refresh will be the only viable way to play minions during league start. Skeletons are getting gutted with the charge nerfs like the current meta minion builds.

But if there's any path forward for minions, I think it's SRS, Spiders or suicide minions with maw of mischief.

Maybe you can salvage your build by keeping the base of it and try to force SRS into it or something. SRS are getting buffed alot and they were already doing pretty good damage previously. They have other problems though, like an abyssmal clearspeed.

I am banking on the respawning of elementalist golems but we will see.
I feel like I might make a non-minion starter from my previous reliable builds and maybe get a golemancer bosser for the later phases of the league.

I still have some hopes for patch notes and for trickster. At this state it seems like we are left to nothing to work with on minions as skeletons.

I have seen maw of mischief playstyle and I did not like it at all. It feels clunky and not for me. Carrion golems comes to my mind as the first solution. We will see what can we do about crit stuff. Maybe pure physical golems with crit or cold conversion might just work.

Was thinking about this, sure might suck until invested but at high investment (didn't quite get there myself this league) weren't we instaphasing or nearly the Uber bosses? I know I was able to get Uber Mavens down in under 6mins. I think if I had a duration fleshcrafter would be almost there

Like if it's 1minute to kill a boss and it goes to 3.5 mins to kill is that really a bricked build. Just something I was thinking about. Possibly the more regular loss of supports hurts more (although in feared and Uber Mavens the only things that died were zombies occasionally)

Well, considering that you're spending ~100 ex to reach the same dps as a tabula league starter of a different meta build I woul say the build is dead.

Sure, you can use the block cap + Aegis Aurora defensive kit on any other build.
But why would you use a skill that's nerfed by 60-80% in total damage throughput.

There's literally zero numerical reasons to play mages. The only reason to play them is cause you "want" to.

Sure, you can make an immortal base of a build by abusing Aegis Aurora and still beat content with skill gems doing 1 million dps. But I'm not gonna sit here and randomly tell all attack/melee builds that their archetype is fine cause they can just go full block with Aegis to get immortal and win a war of attrition against Maven with Double Strike or whatever trash skill I'm choosing.

In reality, you can beat any content in this game if you're tanky enough to just not die and have enough currency. Doesn't mean all skills should be played despite that. Imo, Mages are being nuked from orbit so hard it's like an open cry from GGG to never touch them unless you're new to the game and have some nostalgia trip Diablo 2 wanting to raise an undead army.

Dead is pretty on point with his comment here. You can beat any content with enough tankyness but the question is how much would you like to suffer?

I would say there are other build options and other minions to consider instead of mage skellies. I want to try golems again this league with some of the defensive setups we used to use in this build and in other stuff combined into one. Maw of Mischief + stone golems + ignite build seems to be pretty solid. I have seen Ventura trying and succeeding with it. I would consider that build as my boss killer in 3.19.

I would not recommend trying league starting mage skellies in 3.19, we don't have the patch notes yet but the dmg is severely reduced and it would not be the best option to start your league. Although, I want to try some kind of a boss killer in later stages of the league, probably after I obtain mageblood or complete 40/40.

They still working OK? That makes me excited!
This sounds hopeful. Been checking poe ninja and see a few are still playing the build as well.

I understand it's not gonna be as strong as usual. But long as it's still good, I'd love to pick this up again! Last league was my first league with mages, and I had a lot of fun on that build.
I need to warn people, it is working but you need to understand the budget requirements and investment I have done for the build. So far I have been able to finish uber uber elder and uber cortex. We will see how it goes but im working on a better wand, then maybe a +2 chest. So far so good.

How much do you think cost wise if you're not interested in the ubers?
