Just to be clear: this build can do Sanctums and Essence, right?
Is it a decent league starter or should i look somewhere else?

lol this build shreds sanctum and essence

What about league start? Is it comfortable enough or nah?

I didn't do this for league start. I used arc witch to level, then made some currency and transitioned over to this build. There is a levelling guide in the post, but personally since you need to respec a lot I would just go for a elementalist or witch build and then earn stonks before transitioning to this one. You don't need a lot of currency for this build to be fun, but more would just make your life easier. One thing I would say though is sanctum is so easy with this build. The build mechanics make it so you can keep moving while dealing massive damage, and at the same time you could also summon totems to block traps.

I see. Thanks. And by "arc witch" you refer to that or similar to "famous" Enki's Arc Witch? A decent one to start with?

I'm referring to enki's arc witch. All you need to do is get six links to support arc, and its basically smooth sail from there. Arc chain makes clearing really easy, and there is also enough defensive layers for you to tank some hits.
Is there any point in an {attack speed} x {duration} x {hit chance} x {# totems} that exceeds 20 stacks?

I'm wondering whether there's any mileage in dropping to five totems.

Or should I be dropping some speed in favour of damage, once I hit 20?

This is in a balanced, >30M dps build with all other things covered, so I'm just tweaking at this point.

Thanks

Hit 100(yay!) and respec out of Bastion for Shaper since I don't care about dying anymore. It has been an awesome DPS boost. How are people fitting Empower into their 6 link? I have like 2 unreserved mana and even if I had -mana on jewelry it wouldn't be enough. I guess I need a combination of enlighten 4, -mana on jewelry to lower the cost enough while leaving a small mana pool to cast totems? Fitting empower looks like my next biggest DPS upgrade but will require extensive gear rework from the looks of it.

Aren't totems on a Life Tap in this build?

not at the later stages, or just not if you chose to. You can run mana cost ring or just use a mana flask

Empower replaces EDWA or Lifetap

Or you switch to devouring diadem helmet, which gets you eldritch battery - you then spend energy shield instead of mana for skills (the energy shield from the helmet itself is enough), also gets you 25 % reservation efficiency, feast of flesh (heals you to full life every 5 seconds (if corpses are around)), so pretty nice overall.
Any other community modifications that i should know of? Cuz all this is not covered in the guide. A short breakdown, or a PoB link for an "endgame" version would be great, if anyone cares enough to bother.
