3.23 EXPLOSIVE ARROW BALLISTA ELEMENTALIST - League-Start to End-Game. Easy mode.

“I also hate to lose BoE for Shaper of storms simply because of the immunity to ele reflect. Its nice not having to worry about that map mod at all.”

Somewhere back in this thread discussion it states that ele reflect is not a problem because the totems do the killing and the reflection does not come back to you.

(Edit: Just saw that limevan addressed this on previous page. )

Hello :)

Sorry to make this reply but I had a question.

Already I am a rather novice player.

I'm currently doing the Explosing arrow ballista build as an elementalist and I'm level 84 and my name is BowSheny and I really enjoy this gameplay.

I currently have a small problem, I'm level 84 and I have very little drop of currency (the equivalent of 1 divine I would say and some chaos) and I'm having a lot of trouble tanking above the t10-t11 maps.

If you have any advice on how to better stuff me or how to tank better, I'm all ears!

I'm currently following this pob: https://pastebin.com/Hjx7gy5V (sorry if you can't click on the links) this is the build with a watcher's eye, unnatural instinct and with lots of equipment that is quite expensive. so i tried to find gear for cheap but i have a tank and mana problem. If you could enlighten me that would be really cool! (and I have an enlighten level 2 20% with 96% mana)

Sorry for my English but I only learned the basics in class ^^.

Thank you again for directing me on what I could do! thank you !

Hi!

1. Explosive arrow gem is at 19/23. The best starting EA gem is level 21, with 0 quality. No quality = less time before it explodes. We try to get high attack speed to shoot 20 arrows (fuses) during this time.

2. Elemental Damage with Attacks (support gem) is nice for damage, but you have no way to spread your ignite. We usually use "Ignite Proliferation" support gem early in the game. I see that you have a corrupted bow, so you can't change the colour of the sockets cheaply, so let's skip this. In this case, your best choice is to use Exarch (red) currency on your gloves until you see "Ignites you inflict spread to other Enemies within a Radius of #". This lets you ignite all the monsters near your target, and it helps your clear maps very quickly.

3. Frenzy must be linked to lifetap. You talked about mana problems, and we usually don't need to use mana at all.

4. Auras. You want to make sure you have the 3 main auras first -- Determination, Grace, Defiance Banner. Next, we add Precision until your hit chance is close to 100%. Lastly, we can add Malevolence/Wrath but that's later in the game. You don't need Vitality unless you're playing it with Watcher's Eye.

5. Life. You need more of this on your tree. Start with Profane Chemistry (use search on passive tree if you can't find it).

6. Lethal Pride. When you use this jewel, the number on it is important. For you, it says "Commanded leadership over 11199 warriors under Akoya". If you look at your tree, you get free stats on passives in the jewel's range. We usually choose good jewels that adds stats that are useful (life, burning damage, ignite faster). In your case, your jewel gives you very little benefit. For example, you have taken +1 Maximum Endurance Charges (wasted point, since we don't usually care about endurance charges for this build) and the jewel gives you 20% fire resistance (you already have 75%, plus 86% overcapped fire resistance). My advice is to remove this jewel and focus on the basic tree first. When you have more currency, buy a good jewel and you will have more passive points to play with.

7. Bastion of Elements. In your ascendancy, you have chosen Shaper of Storms. This is very useful later in the game to get more damage. However, you talked about having problems tanking t10-t11 maps. My advice is to go with Bastion of Elements for the shield first, then come back to Shaper of Storms next time when you are more tanky.

8. Iron Reflexes. This keystone changes all your evasion rating into armor. If you still don't feel tanky, you can try removing this passive so you get a lot more evasion. For you, this means that for every 3 incoming hits, you evade 2 of them.

9. Spell Suppression. You're at 33%. We try to get 100%, otherwise a single hit that isn't suppressed can overwhelm and 1-shot you. Find this mod on helmet, chest, gloves and boots.

10. Attack Speed. You're at 2.25 attack rate with onslaught and frenzy charges. This means you get around 16 fuses before the explosion happens. We'll try to get you more attack speed, but since you're level 82, you still have a lot of space to improve on this.

11. Cluster Jewel. Once you have a few more passive points, start moving to a cluster jewel for totems. Get one with 4-5 passives that includes "Sleepless Sentries". You can drop your silver flask since you get Onslaught from this.

There's a lot more that can be improved, but I think you can think about that once you're at level 90 or above. Right now, keep grinding for experience first. If you need help, message me in game and we can play together to get you to level 90 first.

Also, if you don't understand anything here, just ask and we can make it clearer.

[edit]
this is pretty important, and i missed it earlier. you've got knockback on your jewel and if your totems are triggering this knockback, then your shots will keep missing because the monsters would have been moved by the time the next shot is about to hit.

yup.

the number of fuses you can stick depends on how quickly you can fire (attack rate) and how long the fuses last before they explode (skill duration, gem quality).
I see a lot of players on PoE Ninja without the Node Hired Killer. How do these players survive?
Only Life Flask + Life Reg from the Tree is never enough to survive.

What are the exact requirements that I can swap Lifetab for empower at the EA link?
How much minimal mana or how much should a ballista cost at most?

What do you mean? On average, the cost of spamming EA is 400 life per second, while Life Flasks can return more than 1,000 per second.

My problem is not the damage I get from spamming EA, but the damage from the enemies, for example in simulacrum or juiced maps.
Can anyone look and see what else i can upgrade/change in my skill tree?

you're linking my old pob?
So, with 6 ballistas and 0% quality gem you need at least 3.333 attacks per second to get 20 fuses.

20% quality gem would be 2.8 attacks per second.

Is that right?
