[3.18] Wallach's Siege Ballista Hierophant (Enjoy Consistent Character Balance)

Have played this build in 3.16 and enjoyed it a lot.
Note for players, who love crafting and would like to craft with Eldritch currency in 3.17.
Sadly we can't use new Eldritch currency with this build, because all slots are uniques/synthesised, so basically no new craft system is available.

The gloves and rings are rare and you don't necessarily need the synth belt as they are pretty expensive. Plus if you are in trade league you can sell anything good you make.

The new currency afaik only goes on armors not on jewellery, so gloves is the only valid target, as soon as you get the uniques for the other slots.

Some people use a rare chest with this build from what I've noticed, but it's hard to beat hyrri / wildwrap with a crafted chest.

Ahh thats right, only armors. Plus the high end gloves are hunter influence so you cant craft on those either. However, I found it really hard to get hunter gloves with both % DEX and flat Dex as they are suffixes and this build really hurts for resist capping. I did try crafting a cogwork ring with 4 suffixes (DEX and three high tier res). Those are not the easiest thing to get either.

Gloves have an influence (for % dex) - so not working with it. (note: new orbs not working with rings)
So in the end, there is no place to use a new currency, only crafting for different builds or for selling.

Thanks for the build, I'll be starting the league with it.

I've tried to play Holy Flame Totem as a main skill, and hit a wall in early red maps. Anyway, I was using WoC with mines (High Impact + Charged Mines), and it was pretty decent. I think it's probably better than multiple totems support.

That being said, I'm kinda noobish, so I could be missing something.
I've been Trialling the build in standard, and have been having a lot of fun, you mention that anomalous siege ballista is a good upgrade but the damage numbers in POB suggest otherwise because of the slower attack speed.

I'm assuming it shotguns, which is the reason why we already use rain of splinters, but is there an easily quantifiable way to see what the boss DPS is likely to be to calculate cost/effectiveness while upgrading the build next week?
Seeing Ziz' latest video about leveling with explosive arrow, would that be a good idea to use at start while getting key pieces etc? Unsure about how his planned tree looks in regards to this build tho

I'm not who mention it, but I can explain how I use it.
Anomalous siege ballista gives you additional projectile with lower AS. For mapping, this is good because of coverage, for endgame bosses(like sirus A9, feared, etc.) I've used barrage support, so with additional projectile, this(20/20) gives me more DPS than 21/20 siege ballista.

You can check this in POB, just swap your lowest DPS gem for the barrage support, and swap siege ballista to anomalous siege ballista and check DPS.
So I always play with anomalous siege ballista and swap only one gem for barrage support for hard bosses(map bosses and shaper/elder can be done without swapping, depending on your gear of course. swapping for barrage will always lead to more DPS, but after certain DPS threshold I don't care about it and don't swap)

I've been doing the same thing. Using Anomalous Siege Ballista and Hypothermia for mapping and switch to barrage support for bosses. Much of the time I don't even bother swapping to barrage support as the DPS with hypothermia is enough to delete just about any map boss.
Im currently sitting at over 12 million Sirus DPS with 14 ballistas.
