Just wanted to post to inform other minion players that minions still are able to cleave on Hydrosphere with Melee Splash support gems for double damage.

This was supposed to be fixed this league, which it was... but only for player characters. Minions can still cleave on Hydrosphere

Whoops :) That's definitely a bug. Reminds me of pinpoint support in 3.12. "does not support minions" but it did. I don't promote bug mechanics so I never used it in my build guides for that league and I didn't talk about it. But I think many guide makers used the pinpoint bug.

GGG won't fix it in 3.17. They didn't fix pinpoint. But they will definitely fix it in 3.18.

Edit: change don't support -> don't promote

I hope Melee Minions get some love from GGG so I vote for "leave it as it is."

And more I wish that Permanent Spectres got S Tier like in the past.

I would never put this thing in my buildguides either. I didn't even include it in 3.16 either because I thought the mechanic obviously was broken and GGG would remove it. The mechanic reminded me about SO shotgunning and how a support gem was allowed to be both the best single target and AoE support at the same time (Like GMP was for SOs). It's obvious by now that GGG don't like these type of interactions and will work to remove them.

For this reason, I don't promote things like this in my buildguides any longer. However, I want to the inforation to get out there to let people know that the mechanics exist. Both to help people out (Since the mechanic obviously is broken and every melee minion build SHOULD use it) and to make sure GGG notices it and removes it.

If these type of mechanics go through unnoticed without them being widely known there's a risk GGG miss them again and forgets to nerf them for next patch. I personally dislike this mechanic alot, it's clunky and obviously not intended. I want people to start using and promoting it again so GGG can see that it still exist and remove it once and for all.

It was a very weird mechanic because it's not in the description. But GGG added hydro in 3.13 and it was well known you can reflect off it. Actually I watched ziggyd's video to learn about it. He's GGG's main promoter so I don't think they didn't know about it. And I'm not sure it was broken because GGG didn't do anything in 3.14, 3.15, 3.16.

I feel like GGG only cares about mechanics if it becomes too popular. For example, Shrapnel Ballista is designed for shotgunning. But it's not a popular skill so they don't mind?

Maybe they changed hydro because it's too popular because any melee minion, melee and some range builds should use it!

Can anyone tell me what I should upgrade next?

Here are the updated build version. It's more than double DPS of original build (875k vs 1.9M or 2.4M for +2 Fleshcrafter).

https://pastebin.com/xQ7mbY3t

Shaper Helmet with elemental damage taken (get skeleton damage mod*). Anomalous spectres and divergent AG get lots of life from Ashes 30%.

Body is the same. You can try to get +2 Duration. Skeletons get 12% more damage per level, so +2 is 24% more damage.
I recommend corrupt Fleshcrafter first, then socket+link. It costs about 11ex for fuse, chrome, vaal.
Divergent Predator is more DPS for single target than crit damage.

Can rely on support minion for power charges, so change to Sniper's Mark.

I changed to crafted boots to get more chaos res. Lose one skeleton though...
Anomalous zealotry is just 2% more damage so I didn't bother :P
I chose enfeeble curse for extra survivabliity.

Divergent Bone gives 42/42 block with Ashes 30%

Nothing changed for shield (remember to take Divine Shield keystone!)

Craft shock on ring

Ashes with 30% quality

Darkness Enthroned with best jewels (damage and ias)

-

You need to get Unnerve gloves for AG

You can also craft brittle on your boots. I think it's better for your character instead of AG because the AG doesn't move around against bosses. It's +5% crit chance. POB DPS: 1.9M -> 2.8M or 2.4M -> 3.5M.

If you don't care about Enfeeble curse, you can get rid of it and change gloves!

Breathstealer is popular because you can get a second anointment. (don't get Grave Intentions!) It gives good aura buffs from the spores. It's useful for Sim because you're standing in the same place, but it's not so good for fast mapping.

Interesting option could be Tombfist/Pitlord? You could socket 2 more ghastly eyes.

You can also craft your own gloves.

Yeah, I remember Ziggy talking about Hydrosphere and chaining on it way back. Also remember seeing other contentcreators talking about having it in offhand for weapon swap so you could hit it to get frenzy/power charges and Rage with meathook et.c. before bosses.

The Divergent Meleesplash abuse started taking off in 3.16 though. I remember I learned it from Palsteron when he was playing Spiders on stream and I asked why the hell he was running Hydrosphere. He tried to explain the mechanic but it sounded like Pies in the Skies so I tried looking it up and there was nothing. Then I saw Kobeblackmamba on stream using it for his Lightning Strike build aswell and I understood there was something fishy going on.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think this interaction was created in a patch where they redesigned Strike Skills adding a small shockwave to all strike skills when they hit a target. This is what enabled the interaction to begin with. I thought it was introduced in 3.16 but after looking through the patchnotes I can't find it there (Only redesigns to strike ranges) so it must have been implemented in a later patch. But I'm pretty sure it's a recent change to strike skills.

What I do know, is that before 3.16 no one, or atleast very few if anyone was using Hydrosphere to cleave on with Melee splash. But after learned about the interaction and started promoting it, it blew up.

I personally think GGG only nerf or change mechanics when they become widespread and known. I honestly think that broken mechanics that don't get fixed fly under the radar unnoticed cause no one is using them. When they become known and ppl start making videos on them and posting about them on reddit, GGG sees it and goes. "Wtf, this is not intended, gotta remove!"

Then again, SOs were broken until 3.16.
Only when Spectres became meta in Expedition with SOs did GGG finally crack down on them and it's impossible that GGG wouldn't have known about their shotgunning before since the specifically targeted spectre nerfs in 3.13 due to everyone finding out about SOs then. So maybe you're right.

One can only hope that GGG left the Hydrosphere interaction for minions to help melee ones cause they're pretty weak right now..
But more likely than not, they probably just forgot that minion and players have different coding :)

hopefully GGG leaves this build alone when even a casual player like me can wipe out all content the game has except i haven't made it to wave 30 sims yet. i have way too much time, effort, and currency invested to take another big nerf like my old spectre and cyclone builds took. if they do, i'm done cause it's taken me 2 full leagues to get to the point of being able to do endgame
poe is going down fast. Diablo 4 and Baldur's Gate 3 have no performance issues. play them instead

Oh.. Skeletons are getting gutted next patch. Mark my word.
Aegis Aurora will/should be nerfed and skellies will probably get a ~20% dmg nerf which will put them out of being the meta minion.

That being said, almost all builds can make it to endgame if they're wellcrafted builds. I cleared The Feared and wave 30 simulacrum this league during my league start when my gear was 5 ex.

Just make sure you're following strong builds with a robust buildguide to back it up. Things like Bosses and Maven invitations are easy to just cheese with very high dps and little investment into defenses.
For simulacrums you will want a more balanced approached with layers of defense built in.
