[3.14] [Raider] Mahuxotl's Machination Hybrid Trapper

I think im gonna deviate a little bit and go 6l Ball Lightning only and change the helm to a res helm to cap res this will allow me to go darkness enthroned instead of rare stygian
Edit: nevermind explosive trap does way way more dmg than BL

Really sick build. Great explanation for the usage AND crafting of all of your gear. I only play Hardcore SSF/Trade leagues and most builds have literally no layers of defense outside of flasks and base life/es. This build strikes an amazing balance of damage, defense and utility on top of just being incredibly unique. Keep up the great work, I hope you continue to make more cool & interesting builds in the future!

Thank you for taking the time writing this - glad you are enjoying it. I will see, what I can do in the future for more guides in this fashion.

Thanks for the explanation. With min-maxing, i'm just looking for a true end-game goal that I could reasonably reach in a league so I always have something to set myself toward, as without goals the game gets a little boring for me.

I still have the rings to get which will take quite a while and the curse on hit one will be awesome as I'm too lazy to assassin's mark myself, but after that and a better weapon I feel like i'd get bored.

Also, I was struggling in a few 60% deli maps, occasionally just getting oneshot, I switched the basalt out for a rumi's and it was a little better, would the best way to solve that just to be using HH or is there a cheaper alternative?

Delirium maps are still some of the hardest content you can do currently. I did not intend doing Delirium maps with this build when I made it, but here are some suggestions if you want to adjust for them:

- Basalt Flask is a great choice, switch that out for one of the two life flasks
- Don't use Rumi's (block and armour gets reduced heavily due to Acrobatics keystone)
- Just keep moving, never stand still and actively dodge where you can
- go for x% of physical damage taken as fire/chaos on your helmet prefix (forum Aisling unveils), try to get this type of corruption on the shield too, also focus on this stat when choosing your Lethal Pride seed.
- Don't use a Headhunter (Headhunter depends on "on kill" effects - your character does not score kills, only your traps do, so you won't get any HH buffs)

Hope this helps you to get an idea. Elemental and Chaos mitigation is not the problem, only physical damage can really hurt you in delirious maps - so try to improve in that department. Everything else is just positioning.
Hello, im enyoing your build a lot, but im missing in some max fire res and chaos res, in your POB you reach 84 max fire res and 86 max chaos res, im currently at 78 max fire because of leadership price and 81 max chaos res.

any clue what im missing? thx

You're missing Everlasting Sacrifice buff, which hasn't been added to PoB Fork yet. You need to manually add +5% max resistance, so you actually have 83/86 max fire/chaos resistance.

The formulae for scorch, brittle, and sap have been released.

"

- Scorch is the same as shock and chill; the magnitude is given by the formula: 50 * (Damage / ailment threshold)^0.4
- Brittle is the same as above, but the multiplier number at the start is 25 instead of 50. (Actually it's 2500, but that's because the stat Brittle inflicts stores 100 times the value applied, so that it can hold 2 decimal places - so internally Brittle's maximum magnitude is 1500, which causes +15% to crit chance against the enemy - for general purposes it's simpler to think of it as 25 and ignore the extra factor of 100).
- Sap is the same but with 100 / 3.

So, your manual edits to leadership's price is not doing as much as you think. You're scorching for like 8.5%, brittle for 4%, and sap for 5.5%, assuming Shaper ailment thresholds of 25M.

Still a nice build, I'm trying to use the same mechanics with flicker slayer. Was disappointed that I was not applying brittle at a higher %.

Wouldn't those % be the "starting" percentages, that with each hit increase?

Maybe i'm wrong, but i think that if you scorch 8.5%, enemy resistances lowers by that amount, so the next hit will do around that % of damage more? so then the scorch applied, since you always apply all 3 ailments, would be higher the next hit, and so on?

I think you are right that the ailment application value does grow over time. But it doesn't grow that significantly, especially for lower hit values. There's this old reddit article, https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/9hhimp/shock_effect_growth_with_some_graphs/, that indicates that ailment threshold "grows" after multiple hits. But, you still need large average hits to achieve the maximum value.

For brittle (and also scorch), you need a single hit of around 7M - assuming Shaper ailment threshold and no additional ailment effect - to apply the maximum Brittle value of +15% chance. There's nothing in this build that suggests that it can achieve a single hit of 7M.

The attached PoB indicates that each explosive trap hit is 100k (that's with assumed maximum Brittle and Scorch values + Double Damage Focus). If we are to believe this ol' Reddit article, we see that no, the maximum brittle, scorch, and sap values are not possible in this build.

But, hey, I could be wrong. I'm not an expert in ailments but the above is what I understand after some Googling and wiki.
I'm in the process of crafting the initial scepter and i was wondering why you prefer +1 to lightning instead of fire skills? I dont struggle on any clearing even at t16 but i do stuggle with single target on particularly healthy targets like map bosses (i was able to clear A8 sirus though). So wouldnt it be better for me to go for +1 fire spells? Also, what would a vaal fireball 6L look like if i go full fire? or any

Edit: I'm also curious why you crafted lightning damage as extra chaos over crit multi?
I wasnt aware that Prefixes cant be changed was a suffix so I had to restart and now i have +1 cold lol. maaaaan do i go full cold? Lol.

another edit: Sorry to add my whole adventure. Arcs clear is just too good to give up on. For single target though would ice trap be just as viable as explosive trap? Or what is a good single target cold spell.
after a small amount of testing in T16 maps ice trap just doesnt feel as good as explosive trap (havent committed to +1 cold yet and i switched phys to lightning for added cold damage)

too many edits: well this is why you look into things. I thought aspect of the crab was a prefix and extra chaos damage was a suff and i just found out theyre not and a goofed 2ex rip

First and foremost great guide and great build. Really enjoying playing trap again as I haven't played one in a LONG time. Getting to use the new shield is fun and interesting too.

Was wondering if you could have a look at my POB and let me know where to improve next. Next 6 levels are going to be going into the missing health nodes on the tree as I feel like I am getting one shot a little too often even through all the defenses. Single target damage is also feeling a little lack luster on my build currently even with Bear Trap, Flasks, and Double Damage focus popped.

Need to craft my own weapon and get a level 4 enlighten up for crab armor I think to help weather some one shots but any other advice would be of great help! Thank you again for the time and effort put into this guide!

(Also going for Ice Trap instead of Arc due to my duo partner using lightning skills to proc EE)

So from what i've seen so far, the survivability is there, but the damage is lackluster.

How would one improve the damage without sacrificing the overall synergies of the build, between shield+amulet+chest?
Yeah. I'm really having trouble with damage. Rare monsters take forever kill.

I can't get my strength up to match my dex so there's no conflux. Tings with Tier 1 fire res + chaos res + strength are going for 1ex+.

If I get conflux will my damage shoot up? Or am I missing something else?

I die often enough in ultimatums because there's just soo many monsters because I cant clear enough and something somehow eventually gets me.

My gems are still not at 20. And I don't have awakened gems. Should I focus on that first or reaching conflux?

Thanks.
