[3.19] Ice Dancing Queen - Icestorm/Cyclone/CI - Viable For Everything

Anyone know what's better to play, the scion or witch? I see witch gives more clear/dmg? But I assume that means it is less tanky?

I've played the scion version before, and just not sure which one to do now. I also see the witch version uses inspiration, while the scion version doesn't.

a level 20 cyclone gives a larger radius, which in turn hits more mobs per unit of time, which means that related mechanics also start more often

Which are? With Fortify gone and Elemental Overload being skill specific, only thing left is es/hit from Watchers Eye.

They are pretty equal, but witch gets nice explosions from Profane Bloom. Downside is you want to use one of the curses as aura.

I think scion also wants to use inspiration now, the guide is just not updated for 3.16. Basically inspiration replaces controlled destruction. With the change to Elemental Overload this league, if you use CD Icestorm is not critting enough to proc EO regularly. To increase Icestorm crit rate, you drop CD, and Inspiration is next best support to replace it.
Thanks so much for the reply. I think I decided against playing this. I'm seeing A LOT of people complaining about dmg and survivability. I played this back before the MTX was updated, so I'm assuming it's much worse with all the nerfs now.

Wait, what? I put 3 curses in my 6L chest on standard -- why would I need one as an aura?

And yes, I can confirm that elemental overload rarely proc'd when I had controlled destruction in the staff.

Profane Bloom needs enemies to be cursed. Having one curse as aura helps in case they die before CwDT procs. You can argue that if you kill everyone before they have chance to hit you, do you really need to curse them in the first place. But it does make whole pack go boom pretty nice without survivors.

I'd have to give up discipline to use blasphemy>frostbite though. Doesn't seem like a great tradeoff.

It's true you only need a 5L if you use the blasphemy aura, so that might make sense until you get a 6L chest.
Can someone post which gems should be in 6 link chest? In build seems like 6L chest is not necessary..
First, you don't need a 6 link. Second, check the Scion guide for more detailed info.

If you really want to do a 6L, you could use 3 curses instead of having a blasphemy curse. HOWEVER, while playing this, I feel blasphemy is extremely important for proc'ing your Profane Bloom. If you have all 3 curses on a CWDT, the consistency of your clear is lowered. But build what you'd like! If you wanted more defenses, maybe you could even just put in an extra form of defense like Steelskin or frost shield on the 6th socket or something.
I'm not sure what you mean by having to give up Discipline to use blasphemy. I use:

Discipline, Purity of Elements, Blasphemy, and Clarity

I have plenty of mana left to WW. You just need to take the Sovereignty wheel AND can take the "Discipline has 25% increased mana reservation efficiency" node in the middle.
