[3.16] Coldslinger | Vortex | Creeping Frost | League Start | SSF | CI/LL

Hi,

Really enjoying the build. Sorry if this has been covered already, I couldn't find it in the thread. I recently hit 90 and have the currency to swap over to try LL. I'm confused by something in the LL Gear and Gem links section. For boots it says "Rainbowstrides are a great option, but not best in slot for LL like they are for the league starter CI since you aren't grabbing Glancing Blows." The current POB for LL build has Glancing Blows included. I know Glancing Blows has had some changes made not too long ago, so am I misinterpreting or was Glancing Blows something that wasn't taken in the past for LL but now is?

Thanks

Woops! This is a typo (carry-over from last league), I'll remove that statement. Rainbowstrides are fantastic boots either way. They don't have a ton of ES, but they have good movement speed, resistances, and 6% spell block.

Perfect, thank you for the quick response
Is there a reasonable way to craft a really good wand for this? Like 150%+ cold spell damage with trigger socketed spell and +1 to cold gems?

I have never been big on crafting, and even at the 10ex price range it seems like trade is really hit or miss

Would it be better to go to a crafting service or try to figure it out on craft of exile?

A very easy way to get a proper end-game wand for 5-10 ex depending on your luck:

1.) Buy an imbued wand base with a fractured +1 to all cold spell skill gems.
2.) Use a Deafening Essence of Woe (83-94% Spell Damage). Stop here if you can remove the other mods. If you want to be risky, keep spamming the Essences until you get 83-94% Spell dmg + 20%+ cold damage suffix. I think it's unrealistic to target another +1 or 20%+ cold damage over time multi.
3.) Make sure the wand will have 2 open suffixes and 1 open prefix after Remoing all mods using Harvest.
4.) Multi-mod. Trigger craft. 18-20% cold damage over time multiplier craft.

You can also buy a non-fractured +1 with 80%+ spell damage and do the same as above if you can find one.

How do you guys feel about running only one curse? I was playing single curse life elementalist coldslinger and just switched to LL, now I dunno if I should be switching from elementalist to occ. I have an implicit frostbite ring so crafting something good should be easy.

The plus side is that I free up 4 gem slots for maybe cwdt immortal call and something else? The bad side is I kinda want the pops from profane bloom.. Is it worth to switch to occ if I don't cast two curses?

So far this build feels like it has plenty of clear without Profane Bloom between the spellslinger/frostbolt placing vortexes everywhere, Creeping Frost and Blast-Freeze spreading chill and freeze. So I think even if you only run one curse Melediction's other properties are better than Profane Bloom.

I could see an argument for Profane Bloom over Withering Presence depending on the content you're doing.

So do you think it's definitely worth to switch from ele to occ even though I won't be casting two curses? And yeah I know the pops are inefficient, but they're so satisfying.. I didn't get a blast-freeze jewel yet, I guess that's next on the menu.

Yes Occultist is the better Ascendancy for Vortex builds. Elementalist does some fun stuff with enemy resistances and Primal Aegis and reflect immunity is cool. But it doesn't compare to the 25% more damage you get between Frigid Wake and Malediction. Occultist also does some fun stuff with enemy resists and spreading chill/freeze plus you get energy shield on the small nodes, which is better than the % damage Elementalist gives you.
Hey there. I've been running this build for a while now and I'm super satisfied with the boss damage and to a lesser extent the survivability. However, I find that the build appears to be somewhat susceptible to one shots, both in normal map clearing (against trash, not bosses), and against some endgame bossing (A8 Sirus if I happen to get clipped by an ability, and especially the Maven invitation for all four of the Breachlords at once). I'm wondering what changes you think I can make to help with my survivability.
