Excellent post walkjohn55!
I have been playing around with some of these items (currently using Thousand Teeth Temu and up until getting a great rare drop last night, Scaeva), but there are new food for thought items listed there as well!

I have been playing around on paper with a new gem set up for myself, and interested in others thoughts.
I am a complete PoE n00b, so I do not expect this to be optimal, but any highlighting of weaknesses or just plain wrong thought processes are very welcome!

4 Link
Riposte - Reckoning - Melee Physical Damage - Chance to Bleed

4 Link
CWDT - Bladestorm/Lacerate/Cleave/Something Else (not sure on which AoE attack, thoughts?) - Curse on Hit - Vulnerability

4 Link
Pride - Flesh and Stone - Blood and Sand - Enlighten

Weapon or Shield
Vengeance - Chance to Bleed - Melee Physical Damage

Weapon or Shield
CWDT - Steelskin/Molten Shell (unsure which) - Flame Golem

My thought process is;
* The three triggers are all still tied to Chance to Bleed's and Melee Physical Damage's, but only take up a 4 link and 3 link now
* I use blood stance permanently, so Maim is already being applied and doesn't need to be included in my gem set-up
* I never cast Tempest Shield, and have had it out of my gem set up for a while (you did not do a great sales pitch on it in the original post! lol - it was the last thing to get slotted for a while when I finally go gem links sorted in the leveling process)
* CWDT's will grant me more survivability (Steelskin/Molten Shell) and damage (Vulnerability buffing phys damage dealt and Flame Golem buffing damage)
* Enlighten will help out a little with the mana reservation costs

I could use a lot of help on what level my gems should be in the CWDT pieces. After doing some reading on the topic, my brain now hurts :)

Currently doing T8 maps and my resists SUCK (25-35% each), as I have yet to take the time to rework equipment properly since the Act 10 resists reduction.....

The above is my planning for an equipment rework!

Maim support reads "Enemies maimed by supported skills take x% increased physical damage", this stacks with the Flesh and Stone aura so you could add that instead of Enlighten Support for more dps.

Relized that CWDT isn`t a great option. Bcoz we block alot.
Also golem suck damage and die in seconds.

I am still trying to decide if Bleed is inflicted enough to make Bloodlust preferable to Melee Physical (Bloodlust gives more damage and costs less mana, but the Bleed needs to get applied in a consistent manner). I expect that Bleed works better the higher the Map level. I think the decision will be based on whether Bosses get tagged enough with Bleed.

I think that the one "free" curse is just too useful to leave out, but I plan to go with the Mark of Submission ring but that comes at the cost of Life and Resists. Vulnerability is also my first choice of curses. (If anyone wonders about my Character, I have not yet fired up the Curse.)

Me too - mostly - I swapped in Maim for Blood and Sand.

Vengeance - Chance to Bleed - Melee Physical Damage

I decided that Vengeance was the Trigger attack that I would put some work into (because it hits 360 degrees as I understand it). So I used the same support skills that you did, plus I added Pulverise and socketed it all in a Shaper influenced Helm with Increased Area of Effect. At some point I will swap out Pulverise for something else in order to try and get a feel for if it actually is doing the intended job (extending the damage circle - I just don't know how much the Less Attack Speed is costing me).

Steelskin was on my short list but Tempest Shield beat it out. And I use a Totem (Vaal Warchief) instead of a Golem (personal choices).

I went the same way regarding Maim on the Triggers, but I did link Maim to Flesh and Stone (which is supposed to add the takes extra damage part from Maim to Flesh and Stone). I use Blood Stance just about 100% too, but that will probably change once I take the Arena Challenger Ascendancy which seems to be set up to reward switching between mobs and Bosses.

I kept Tempest Shield, but put it on CWDT (level 1). It seems to fire up more the higher the Area level - but it still needs to trigger more in my opinion. Having the Cull is a comforting thought, but if things do not improve, Steelskin will look better and better.

Regarding CWDT, I go as low as I can, mostly. I only use it for stuff that can still contribute at a low gem level.

I guess that your low resists still being bearable speaks well for the Build's other Defences.

Some things I've noticed in this thread people should bear in mind:

Maim the condition does not result in extra damage unless it comes from Maim support, Flesh and Stone, or both. Tombfists for example are then wasted for their Maim effect. The intimidate would be worthwhile however.

CWDT needs to be linked to a spell, not an attack as mentioned. Since we intend to use CWDT to curse, damage is irrelevant. Uptime is what is important therefore the gems should be CWDT lvl 1, spell that hits to appropriate level, and CoH + curse lvl 20. Personally, I like Arc for this task. Tempest Shield could work but it wouldn't have great coverage imo but you only really need strong mobs to be cursed. TS has the option of being self cast and maintained if your block is high enough, potentially freeing a gem slot for something like increased duration or chain or something else.

Gaurd skills. They aren't nearly as good as they were on CWDT setups except IC. Molten shell VS steelskin comes down to how much armor you have. Generally speaking Molten Shield is going to get you a higher ward especially considering you can pop a granite flask first. Vaal Molten Shell is also a thing. I could see CWDT+IC being useful to this build however if the build reliably generated endurance charges.

I haven't looked at the PoB so I might be off base, but could two 6 links be possible by using a 2hand staff? Trigger skills could be stacked opening up 3 4-links for curses, auras, movement, or whatever. The unique options look very interesting.

Impale is likely a worthwhile investment if your going pure physical.

I'm looking for a blocker build.
:) Likely sooner, but I don't like to rush guides. I make too many big mistakes. Do you have Path of Building? This is what I'm currently testing out: https://pastebin.com/hVbJaNMY.

Been playing this build, up to lvl 38 so far https://pastebin.com/Y49mCYxN

Main thing I changed was putting Chance to bleed on cyclone and Bloodlust on the triggered skills. Plus I moved Culling strike to cyclone.

I bought the Praxis Ring and the Sheild. Every thing else is self found from other toons.

Having fun with this build, Thanks for sharing.

Just finished The Sceptre of God and took no dam. Thinking of switching in Damage on Full Health on Cyclone.

Love this build in every aspect it just sooooooooo easy to play

Made a few changes that seem to suit me (warchief is just a beast btw)

5 Link
Cyclone - Melee Physical Damage - Brutality - Fortify - Impale
(will add infused channeling if I get a 6l)

4 Link
Riposte - Melee Physical Damage - Chance to Bleed - Ancestral Warchief

4 Link
CWDT - Immortal Call - Blasphemy - Vulnerability

4 Link
Precision (lvl 1 22 mana for 40% crit) - Flesh and Stone - Blood and Sand - Maim

3 Link
Vengeance - Melee Physical Damage - Chance to Bleed

3 Link
Reckoning - Melee Physical Damage - Chance to Bleed

Started playing it this weekend just got into act 7 no deaths, near 0 damage just lawnmower through everything currently at level 55

Using a -8 mana praxis so I never use mana lol, currently using bit that I have found or had in storage (kept the bleeds in for the dot and my weapon has a 29% extra dmg to bleeding enemies)

So with, Blood and Sand, Flesh and Stone, Vulnerability & Precision all active I still have 70 mana left (o.O)

First time I commented on a build to give my links so be kind lol, if anythign in those links make no sense then feel free to say as I only started playing form this league so a complete scrub but got the greatness of Wrecker and his fantastic guides to fell back on :)

Again THANKS wrecker you are a lifesaver with these builds

It does sound interesting but also it sounds like a lot of work. All the Shield and the Sword nodes would need to be replaced. But if you do do all that heavy lifting, I'm interested in seeing what you get.

Yeah, I have recently gone deep into Impale (Impale support in the 6-Link, Dread Banner, and 5 passive points to pick up Swift Skewering). I just found that I was taking too long on non-trash, especially waking up Legion specials. (I also think that Cyclone stops doing damage from time to time - an unfortunate complaint on Console - which also might be the cause of my issue.)

That is currently my 6-Link and I have ramped up Warchief (4-link plus Elder mod).

I have packed it in for now on the Bleed stuff. Same for Rage.

I agree totally about -mana cost gear. I went to Market and got a -7 mana rare ring (so I get Life and Resists too) and it is both tremendous QOL and a plus to Offense and Defence. It just makes everything work so much smoother - now I can twirl away in the Delve and not worry about flaming out. It really makes the Build even easier to play and very forgiving regarding mana management.

Congrats on the zero deaths (so far).
