Hey OP, nice write up. I am considering trying this out.

Can you tell me how it does on Legion encounters? Does it clear everything cleanly for Legion map farming?
Hey!
Thanks for this guide.
I've leveled one to try and really love it.
I'm a bit low on tanking and dps but I'm only lvl 75 (9k eHP).
Well I did a t13 deathless and it is perhaps the first time with so low lvl xD.
If you could check it on my public profile just to look if I've missed something ;)

I'll talk about your guide arround me. Be sure of that :)

Regards !

PS : I've bought my first skill mtx and it is for ball lightning ;)

Trying out this build in HC. Im only level 77 so far, but just managed to get a hold of a 6-link pledge of hands and I must say, so far its been a dream.

It feels weird as a HC player running around with sub 4k hp, but obviously it becomes way more than that when you add everything up.

Great! I am really curious how it proceeds to the late game in HC. I am looking for updates :)

The plan is to just get to level 85ish and then start shaper spamming.

Be sure to check the maths, especially on how many shocks you can apply per second. Even though the recovery is insane, you need some decent crit multi on jewels to shock him.

One thing I have noticed that may become a problem later on, is when you use pledge of hands it really makes you face tank since it locks you in place for quite a while. I realize this build is meant to do just that, but Im sure that is what will get me killed eventually ^^

The animation-lock is a very big problem for the new pledge, and I do not know whether pledge or dual void batteries are better for HC. As a casual SC player I do not dare to judge nor advise the HC players.

Just to say, I am playing self-cast Assassin with pledge, and yesterday I died two times in a row to red elder because of this. It did not happen to me in a few leagues that I die to red elder, so yeah... the bug is really pronounced and can hurt heavily.

Anyways solid build, it really does bring back memories of the caster zerker meta. Used to rock the whispering ice/fire storm kind back in the day myself.

Thanks fellow zerker! I was also rocking whispering ice zerker the old days. One of my best experiences in game :)

Could a frostbolt/Ice nova setup work with this build?

No. You need to hit and shock frequently. There are better builds for frostbolt/ice nova - check assassins for instance.

I do not play with this build in Legion, so I hope the others can tell more. For general clear you can use GMP, and you can clear off-screen, so in open layouts should be possible to clear one of the armies. However, I doubt that you can fully clear two armies at once. Someone, please confirm.

Congratulations! I have checked your profile, and your gear looks already decent. Just level-up a little, buy watchers eye, and, if you care, min-max the stats. Enjoy!

Only level 85 right now, but I've noticed that it is relatively hard to unfreeze some of the higher hp yellows and generals using a GMP setup (possibly because you can't shock them until the come alive?). I've resorted to using slow projectile and quickly running/dashing over to the ones I want to release - fewer overall legion mobs released but I can usually get my highest priority ones. If you do the general last, the orbs are still on top of them when they come alive and they die fairly quickly.

Haven't tried a legion map yet.
Heya, fellow ballers.
Lvl 83 atm and clearing red maps quite easily. However, the Legions are a major pain in my black bathrobe-laden arse.

One possible reason is that 2 of our res-destroying skills are reactive in nature. The legions can't trigger Wave of Conviction or Conductivity from the CWDT setups, so I need to selectively unfreeze the rares with Slower Proj and Dying Sun flask.

The other one is that my Pledge of Hands simply refuses to 6-link, so I'm stuck with lower crit (no Increased Crits), lower pen (no Lightning Pen) or lower cast speed (no wai, it kills my char in mere seconds because of the low sustain). Which is kinda strange, because the damage feels great overall...

Otherwise, great build and something completely different from the cycloning madness overtaking the Wraeclast.
Sapienti ban...
So I died today in core map to a malachai slam on level 85. Had about 3,9k life 3,4k ES and 5k mana (with 57% dmg taken from mana)

Didnt have fortify up which would have most likely saved me, but I got 100% one shot, due to a little bit of stupidity from myself and also the lockdown from pledge of hands.

Sadly the story ends there for an otherwise great experience. Was leaning towards buying a 6-link cloak of defiance and replacing the pledge of hands but they are rare in HC and I didnt manage to snag one.

Made enough currency to not be broke atleast, so now I'm wondering what to play next ^^
I'm currently playing this build and it's absolutely fun. My gear is far from good let alone min/maxing and still doing very fine.

I switched to Orb of Storms -> Chain Sup -> Energy Leech -> Ice Bite with Herald of Ice -> Onslaught to get reliable Frenzy Charges and Onslaught by killing white mobs with OoS which i found very useful.

However with all unique items i could not figure how to increase my DPS to match yours. In PoB your DPS is like 4 times of mine :) I'm missing some jewels but will 3-4 jewels increase my damage that much?

If you can guide me a bit that'd be much appreciated.

Thanks.
