[Retired Thread] Wallach's Hierophant Holy Flame Totems (Old)

I think I will start 3.9 with this one. One thing bothers me tho, is hiero or chieftain better for holy flame totem?

I played this build on a Scion last season (Hiero / Chieftain combo) and tbh I think Hiero is better, you get loads of placement speed, extra totem for free, immunity to ailments if you spec into it, and access to more damage oriented nodes that are too far for chieftain (towards shadow area).

Chieftain has 2 good perks, one you don't need avatar of fire because you already get a similar trait from ascendancy (so you can use phys / fire / ele as extra chaos with no worry), and ability to go blood magic instead of mana. But not sure if these are worth losing the extra totem.
What about multiple totems supp? Isn't it good to have 6 instead of 4 totems?

Not a fan, it eats away 1 gem slot and carries damage penalty, did some napkin math few pages ago and it was underwhelming. Better just put a damage increasing gem in that slot.
Might be hard to get +1 shaper shield in the beginning. Only reasonable alternative is Tukohama's Fortress but it has Blood Magic on it - no point to use Soul Mantle in this build really. Probably we should stick to 3 totems with some nice off-hand and try to get +1 shield some day ;)

BTW: Levelling is so nice with this build. Was lucky with tabula drop tho :)
I was not sure if this build is going to be, although I have played no Hirophant or holy flame in PoE.
But it is very comfortable. Bossfights at leveling need some more time in comparison to minions (last league), but I am happy with this build.
Only invest was a five-link armor and I'm at lvl 80 now.

You forgot about the fact GGG buffed boss HP by around 5 times, ofc it takes longer to kill them. It affects everything from act 1 Merveil to Uber Elder, and the new bosses too.

Quick question: we take a bunch of crit chance/damage, but we also use controlled destruction in the 6-link setup. Does ConDes not shut off the totem's ability to crit?
One question. Isn't Ele focus disable Combustion's -fire res when ignited since we can't apply ele ailments?
