[Retired Thread] Wallach's Hierophant Holy Flame Totems (Old)
Well, you definitely need to focus your gear upgrades on improving your eHP. It is clearly your biggest issue right now.
You have a number of gear pieces with mediocre to bad life rolls. When you pair this with the fact that you are using a Tabula Rasa still instead of a chest piece that can have both life and crafted life/mana (nevermind having no Armor/ES on it), it's leaving you in a noticeable eHP deficit. Get rid of that Tabula Rasa soon, even if you have to drop down to a 5L chest piece. That Efficacy gem isn't doing you a lot of good anyway; if you do get to move to another 6L you should probably change that out for Combustion. Remember that you also need to track your total mana as you increase your life from gear. Currently you say you have 2071 mana, which means you are protecting 3,107 of your 3,470 life pool assuming you are reserving 0 mana. If you haven't yet picked up all of the max mana nodes in the tree yet, consider grabbing one with your next 2 skill points to cover that gap.
Regarding the shaped chest piece, is the crit multiplier most important? I rolled 10% of damage taken from mana first, it seems like a good defensive piece. Should I keep rolling for the crit multiplier?

Hello Wallach! I just managed to find a legion boss from the monolith today, but despite the fact that I had totems placed right in their face, drank all the dps buffing potions and applied curse, I did not have enough damage to kill it in 15 seconds. Are there any ways to increase damage further? I don't think Atziri's promise is a viable choice because we have avatar of fire, right? Current DPS is like 73k when I snuck a peek while I was killing mobs in map.

Hello Wallach just wondering which is your strongest totem build Freezing pulse or Holy flame?
|
|
Not sure if this was asked in the 26 pages of replies, but you're using controlled destruction which reduces crit chance by 100% for hft. Then you mention to help alira because crit multiplier is the best late game and you're also running a diamond flask. If hft can't crit because of controlled destruction then why make those other choices? Or am I completely missing something?

" Wallach talks about this quite a bit in a couple of posts on page 21 of this guide. In summary though: HFT - Easier to leaguestart with as it requires less investment. Still able to do pretty much all content including Uber Elder. Freezing Pulse Totems - More expensive to start and considerably more expensive to get the high budget version rolling (Likely 20 Ex+). Better clear and more damage once you do though. " I think you might be confusing the reduced crit chance on the Controlled Destruction Support Gem with LESS crit chance. You easily make back the REDUCED crit chance from the Controlled Destruction support by getting a ton of spell crit on the tree and then also trying to get it on weapon, shield and the boots enchant. This build will likely still have around 80% chance to crit providing you have enough crit on the rest of your gear. |

Thanks for the comprehensive guide Wallach. With this build I was able to easily crush the story without anything better than Lifesprigs and a Tabula. And also thanks for your detailed answers in the thread. I usually skim over all the forum posts, but your replies were awesome - I learned plenty. I look forward to seeing whatever you cook up for 3.8 and beyond :)

" Thanks for the kind words, though for 3.8 I am not sure I'll be cooking up a new build unless they nerf what I've made already (which I suppose is possible for Freezing Pulse setup). We'll see what 3.8 brings!
Hello i have question, why not go in passive tre for Heart of flame and breath of flame? Is it because of defense or somthing else? thanks for answer

" There's a few reasons; the main one being that they are simply aren't efficient damage nodes from where I am pathing. The single extra +10 Intelligence node you have to pick up to get there does enough damage to make them not worth taking from a pure damage standpoint (since in my current tree we are already connected to an abundance of other damage nodes to choose from). The other main factor is that these two notables' secondary effects are not particularly useful for our totems. We are utilizing Elemental Focus rather than trying to invest into Ignite, so Breath of Flames line is particularly weak for us. Heart of Flame on the other hand is an expensive line points-wise due to the .2% ES leech the notable has, which we cannot make use of through our totems either. So ultimately they would only be considered for pure DPS reasons, which they lose to pretty handily to our other chosen damage nodes. Last edited by Wallach on Aug 19, 2019, 5:43:45 PM
