[3.13] ESSENCE DRAIN / BANE / SOULREND Occultist / Trickster Build. STARTER & UBER Elder Carry!

currently using vixens entrapment working with bane and im very happy so far.

i dont want to use temporal chains with bane since it causes dot to slow down on the mobs.

Hi all! Can u tell if the dot from soulrend scale itself multiple times? I'm trying blight+ case on channel+ soulrend+ gmp etc, the screen is wonderful and the clear speed so far is also great. But the single target not that much. I'm lvl 51 still with crap gear I use bane+enfeeble+ despair+ temporal chains and the classic wither totem. My question is, how the single target DPS is with this setup? And if I should self cast rend or keep with blight+ channeling? Tks in advance!!!

Soulrend does not stack with itself

Then multiple cast are useless and I should not be channeling to get various procs? I should go for single shot, wait, single shot wait the dot apply and so on? Tks for the answer by the way

Soulrend is supposed to be spammed, so you need to cast it a lot or channel through blight. Duration on Soulrend is way too low to be cast "once"

I got Allelopathy with cwc soulrend efficacy gmp

Works pretty well soulrend cast way faster this way, really usefull for the mine.

I use bane on a 5l chest es and the damage are insane, sitting at 5.2k es so far, no uberlab yet.

Tks a lot friends, I'll try this setup. The single target form this rends are enough to take down tough ones like ubber izaro at least? One more question, bane damage scales best with 3 curses or just 2 plus a support like swift affliction? I'm very grateful for your help, Reddit users act like a bunch of idiots/almighty gods

Well, i'm having a lot of fun with this build for now.
I have about only 4k es now, but still running around in Tabula Rasa while experimenting with gem combinations. Had some problems with chaos damage — ofc i don't have Shavronne yet — switching to Chaos Inoculation made things right.
I don't even have any gems on my passive tree, but it feels like something with insane damage and nice tank potential (just when i dont get lazy to smash potion buttons :D ). I've spent some chaos here, some there and made some cheap exots, like Vixen's (they cost 10+c today, but i've got one for 3c yesterday and they were about 2-5c each, wat) and Bated Breath. A-and Astraments as well just because i've found a good price for nice stats-roll on market. :D

For now i tried Bane with Vixen's gloves + tree talent for one more curse and active 6L-Soulrend. Bane just awesome, but soulrend really made for CwC, no doubt. Spamming it sucks. Should be great with Blight.
Not using Contagon at all, just don't know where to input it inside cast-pool. It doesn't really feels like a powerful addition to everything else.

I played as arc-elementalist, zombie-necro and viper-ranger in previous seasons but every of them felt, dunno, much slower in some ways. And way more glass-cannon-ish...
Anyway — Angry_Roleplayer thanks for this build and for updates.

First time I play a magic character, any advice for the leveling tree please? Where to go etc

Take combined ES and Life nodes (you will mostly level with focus on life) and some spell damage and chaos damage over time nodes. Ignore pure ES nodes for now.

After a few levels you will get a feel for if you need more defense or damage, and pick nodes accordingly.

After a while, like level 50-60 you can consider enabling CI if you feel you have a decent ES pool (I did it when I had around 4k ES after I bought a few rares with some ES on them).

The life/ES cluster to the right of witch start which ends in "Melding" is great, so is the nodes ending in "Written in Blood". Those give good amounts of life and ES.

I pathed up towards "Whispers of Doom" for an additional curse pretty early, to use with Bane.

Early on you will often need some Dex or Strength, so the nodes that give +30 to either is fine, you can always remove them later. Remember you get around 20 respec points during leveling if you do all the side-quests.

The last thing to remember is that the passive tree posted here is just his take on the most effective one, not necessarily the one that fits you the best.

Say for instance to you have another character for hard bosses, so you would rather have more cast speed than ES, then that's perfectly fine :).

Bane scales better with fewer curses.

Each curse gives more damage. That seems very good, however it is additive with itself, so 1 curse gives you straight up 47% more damage, however the next one increases that to 94% more instead of 1.47*1.47 = 116% more.
Separate support gems stack multiplicatively so 1 curse equals 1 47% more support, but 2 curses does not equal two 47% more supports.
