All right, i did some testing concerning chest armours after hitting Lvl 96.

Life with that chest: 6501 Vaal BV DPS in HO with Wrath and HoA: 39316 The spellcrit is veeery good, very enjoyable to have the shatters and shocks more frequently even. My overall #2 behind Kaom's, might be #1 even if you don't want to level past early 90s. I did NOT use a second curse. Elder Chest

Life with that chest: 6770 Vaal BV DPS in HO with Wrath and HoA: 35236 You do proc a bit more, but it's not much of a difference. You don't hit any harder. With a good diamond flask active you barely realize the elder mod. Just my insane life rolls make it acceptable. Overall not recommended! #5 Farrul's Fur

Life with that chest: 6386 Vaal BV DPS in HO with Wrath and HoA: 35236 - 46918 (with charges, and Aspect of the Cat!) My #4, it gives lots of damage because you can go for Herald of Ash + aspect of the cat, and have charges most of the time. I would seriously consider it, if it was cheaper and I had 12 sec charge duration. It's nor better than a shaped chest for this build tho. Kaom's Heart

Life with that chest: 7695 Vaal BV DPS in HO with Wrath and HoA: 35403 (a bit more after crit, cause some jewels give me 2-4% extra fire dmg based on phys, which kaom's scales. But that's tiny). My #1 cause it lets me survive many dangerous situations and I got to lvl 96 with it. Not deathless, but you don't need more damage from the chestpiece. With about 1000 max life above the very well rolled Elder chest and almost 1200 above the more offensive shaped chest, this is my way to go. Loreweave

Life with that chest: 6263 Vaal BV DPS in HO with Wrath and HoA: 39426 Also, possible 80% max res. That means, instead of 25% elemental damage going through, you receive just 20% damage. that's a total of 5% and a relative 20% less elemental damage taken (5 of 25 is 20%). So you have good suvivability against ele dmg and quite high effective life under those circumstances, around 7500. I still don't like it somehow. I guess it's a tad better than a rare shaper chest, so I give it a shared #2. If you were to incorporate a Loreweave or another 6 link chest in your version, what gems would you slot in there? I like the idea of a more laid back playstyle but I've also historically been a big fan of the Loreweave -- that being said, having 6 sockets/6 links and not using them for anything seems like a waste. Is the Storm Brand power charge generation the only good option?

" Well, it's what Mathil did, on a 5L Storm brand - Coh - WM - Crit strikes - PCoC If it was a 6L I would add Blind as a defensive option. There's no benefit in adding sockets to the totem... You could use Blood rage, maybe with inc. Duration and Enhance for max attack speed bonus. Or some Cast when damage taken setup with a spell gem and PCoC for passive crit generation to maintain the playstyle. You may not always have charges then but ok. Also, maybe a Vaal Lightning Trap? That's what comes to my mind right now, there may be more :) | |

Build feels very smooth!
I have a minmaxed ice nova coc, and this feels more smooth in terms of clear speed because it's a lot faster because of the movespeed we get. The damage actually feels better and more bursty, but it does not seem to be as safe as ice nova coc. I'm afraid that i'll rip more when i'm playing this toon. Overall very strong though, maybe it's just because I'm not totally minmaxed? Can you suggest some upgrades for me? Pretty much just tried to emulate the gear that you had, but it's not quite as good. I can't find a 30% duration enchant for a reasonable price. I have the currency to spare, but ppl are asking for like 5-7e for whatever reason. | |
" Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it! Your gear looks mostly fine to me, overall more damage-oriented, but still really good. I'd say it equals mine, BUT... Your Sword has crit multi instead of base crit chance. That is really annoying for a crit-based build, so you should aim to improve that. It will most likely be costly though :( It may be that total DPS is displayed higher with crit multi, but the spell will proc less often and frequent. So I'm quite sure, overall it's less DPS and definitely less reliable. Concerning the BV duration enchant, I would guess that 20% Inc. Duration is just fine. I get around 8 stacks of BV without flasking, so even with 20% inc. duration you should be able to build up 10 stacks as long as your flask helps to proc BV. Though your sword weighs down your stacks too cause it makes it harder to proc CoC and thus BV. Also, I tried a 6L setup for uber Elder and general mapping for those who want to use a different chest: Storm brand - Faster casting - Crit strikes - PCoC - Blind - Arcane Surge. Works well and provides good damage. I didn't level the gems yet, so I can't tell which lvl arcane surge should have, but you can find out on your own. Did 2 Ubers today and died once each, cause that damn shaper slam hit me once with a small lag (I was thinking he is faster, dodged downwards, realized he wasn't as fast...dodged upwards, was out of range I could swear and still died!) and once just as Elder slowed me...well, whatever. I'm pretty much done w/ gearing my ms howa ci jugg and the ice nova is done. So, no need to spend more currency on those toons. Still got 11e and around 1.3 c left so I can afford another sword! I bought the one that I'm using atm because I found a nice deal on it. It's actually quite nice to know that I can replace the sword for more dmg and consistency haha. Hopefully I can sell my current one for a decent price. It was just so fucking annoying coloring this thing. I got really unlucky and spent like 3e on chromas lol... Anyways, thanks again for the advice. Might give out the loreweave option for a spin, but I'm digging this clean simple playstyle w/ the kaoms rn. Hey man i'm relatively new and returning player (never got that far a couple yrs ago) and tried to copy your build as much as possible. Have limited currency but squeezing in upgrades where I can but aside from my jewels I can't figure out why my crit chance/boss damage seems so low. I also seem to get one shot here and there whenever I do T14+ maps. Any tips on improvements would be great if you got time. thx!

" Hi mate, sorry for the late reply. Checked your gear and I can see you are missing a tiny bit of dmg and a bit of life, mostly due to jewels. Try to get some proper abyss jewels with life, 3 stats should be fine, else they get extremely expensive. When I got mine they were anywhere from 5 to 50c depending on the rolls. Besides that you gear looks absolutely fine! As a sidenote, I did quite a few uber elder runs and found that given the fight is almost exclusively targeting you with ele dmg, loreweave just outperforms Kaom's because you can push Uber Elder and Shaper over much easier. I managed a deathless run with loreweave even :) For general mapping (if you aim at more than lvl 90 at least) and delving I would recommen Kaom's though! |
