[3.6] The Blizz Sorc - Icestorm/Winter Orb CI Occultist - Viable For Everything
I'm at level 82 now at 6600 energy shield with discipline and I just 6 socketed my staff and I'll need to be farming more currency so in the meantime, how can I improve my gear in the meantime? My character is Jasmine_Art_Patternose

By the way, if somebody interested - you can snapshot winter orb the same way as explosive arrow.
Start to cast your full 6 link setup, and then just cancel it, and continue to channel different winter orb setup. That different winter orb setup can be linked with faster casting to build stages faster, and increase duration to lose them slower. In mana it will cost nearly to nothing, but as long as winter orb will not be completely extinguished, its damage and projectile modificators will be from the 6link setup. |

Hi! Thank you for your build, I've been wanting to try a WI build for a while and yours seems the most up to date. Would you give any tips for using this build in Hardcore? (Maybe going for Vile Bastion before Frigid Wake?)
Thanks. | |
" Is there a reason to going in hardcore in betrayal? So you can just skip everything new that league gives you? :) |

" Nah i dont think i'll take the third curse.. 20% pen and immune to cold and chill works better for bossing than clear speed.. and having 3 curse is pointless to me (unless i throw away blind for temp chains).. so if i drop 20% pen and immunity to cold and chill, i have slightly better clear speed and 1 more curse.. nahhh.. | |
Ya, they need to fix curses. I mean it only really works well on trash, which dies easy curse or no, and doesn't matter on bosses cuz of reduced curse effect. Terrible design.
But anyways, wonderful build! Havnt played Whispering Ice since it was CWC Firestorm. Found it meh. This is legit as all heck. |
|
" I never meant to get 3rd curse, i meant to get malediction instead of whispers of doom, it will free up quite a bunch of skillpoints. But yeah, the curses are so terribly designed... they work OP on trash that don't need that anyway, and on those against who we actually need assistance (guardians/shaper/elder) they almost don't work entirely. On the other hand, debuffs working without even a slightest problem, that's why things like blind/combustion/ice bomb/etc are so powerfull... shame that this situation was there for years, and there is no sign that GGG want to do anything about it. |
|
" Damn! thanks for mentioning frostbomb. that additional -25% cold resist and i completely forgot about it haha.. well i just changed my setup to now selfcast frost bomb and remove vigilant strike.. i dont know how OP uses blood rage on his setup. doesnt work for me.. my es just kills me slowly everytime it activates i need to remove the bloody gem (if i need to run for miles without mobs to kill).. very unstable. so in that slot, i put vaal righteous for bossing.. more spell damage rocks! I forgot how rough CI is in a new league. I got killed a lot doing T1-3 maps since I had only 1750 Life and 1850 ES and was far too squishy. Immortals were mostly to blame. Finally switched to CI and am now quite a bit tankier at 4350 ES but would like to have at least 6000 to feel comfortable.
Lv 75 and saving up for Cyc Coil and better gear...still using crap: Last edited by SasoriOtoko on Dec 15, 2018, 3:47:21 PM

" Two ways to use blood rage without issue.. the first is Vaal Discipline, that will start your recharge and make it a non-issue. The second is to just open your inventory and remove the blood rage gem. For instance, if it's on your gloves, just pick them up and set them back in the slot. Boom.. blood rage canceled. I guess a third would be to get 4% ES regen from some awesome items. Watcher's Eye, and Shavronne's gambit boots are your only real option... so it would be difficult. I hear you though, I keep going back and forth with it. May try to run without it for a bit, and maybe only pop in in for serious bossing without real invul phases.... You can certainly notice the extra healing on big hits though. Last edited by Breken on Dec 15, 2018, 4:03:46 PM
