[3.5] (This is a bad league starter) Lancing Steel + Shattering Steel - Deadeye - League Starter
In Shattering Steel it says "projectiles deal more damage as they travel farther, up to 100% more damage". Isnt it better than point blank? PB is only 50% more damage. Isnt 100% more damage at far range better and you can fire from safe position ?
Im trying both SS and LS and it seems that SS is much better in term of clearing, and LS is slightly better at single target.(im playing as champion so no pierce no chain) |

I've considered going 2 insburys for 50% chaos coversion

I'm 57 and have been using shattering steel the whole way with the original suggested trees. Haven't had any real trouble with damage, although I am making sure to craft better swords every step of the way. No problem on Cruel Lab on any of the act bosses, some of the syndicate mobs are tough but manageable. Enjoying the skill, curious to see how it looks in the endgame.

" yea but at range, only 1 proj can hit 1 enemy. if ur up in their face, all your proj can hit. so its actually better to be point blank... |

I'm in the same boat now, just finished cruel lab SSF (deadeye).
With good weapons leveling is fine (15-30 was hardish, then getting better) SS feels more smooth than LS. main reason is GMP shotgunning SS with point blank kills in front then i can move bit futher for next pack. LS can kill targets far away, but closest will still be alive. I dont have super high expectation for endgame, even with 6l (tabula rasa farm, here I come!) Damage feel mediocre, but again, i m with average weapons, could be much more smooth. As deadeye, this probably will end up as map clear, may be t10-12, may be higher. SS problem is you most likely will be melee range, danger zone. Higher damage and higher risk. LS is more safe if you manage enough projectiles (+ take far shot) and overgear zone. I dont see good defensive mechanics apart of dodge/evade/ random blocks, as for shaper guardian+ content. Not sure about champion or even scion. Another question is...what about high dps phys 2-handers? Starforge/Voidforge as endgame choice?
Just finished campaign at 62, enemies up to blue are fine with the build but 1v1 rares or bosses is meh.
Something feels really off with the hitbox of SS.
Guys I knew it but i still decided to go LS. Is this same problem like Lightning Strike, where u just cant stack both melee and proj... so i still dont know which is better for lightning strike to stack proj dmg or melee. One of them always is wasted. Here now with lancing steel feels the same issue. Atm im leveling like 40lvl i didnt have time for more, and it feels so shit with dual Ewar's Mirage. Idk what im doing wrong but dmg is pain in the ass.
I guess i will try SS. But probably can switch to completely different skill/build. I hate builds with shit single target like EK. feelsbadman
At around LV70, I had to give up. SS had decent single target DPS but clear speed was terrible. I played pure phys double strike for a while, which was a very easy switch. (all u need is just the main links switched)
Now, I respecced to COC Lancing ice spear. its pretty nice. I'll post video eventually. |

Haven't read through the entire 20 pages, though I've followed the build, hit maps, loving the potential.
But one question constantly plagues me. Wouldn't it have been better to go Scion with Slayer/Deadeye instead of Ranger Deadeye
" Gotta agree. I'm having one of the best swords currently in the league and it still feels very lackluster. I can comfortably clear T6, but i don't feel the potential to go much longer than T12, without having a shitty clear speed. |
