Yes, you need to level it to cast higher level Golem and Immortal Call. You have enough life later for that. But if you want you can leave it at level 1 and level it in lategame.

I do. If you are in an Ultimatum you don't want to run around. Of course you can use a key bind to attack in place but it depends on what you prefer. I feel the attack range is fine for most cases. Especially if you have the nodes to Tribal Fury and the other attack range notable.

I've noticed that the essence crafted helmet is really important.
You need to get the base with enchant. Since you can't reasonably get an elder one you have to use a conqueror ex (preferably warlord for the potential very very lucky -fire res check ilvl requirement), then awakener's orb an elder base onto it. Then essence spam till you get immolate and then reroll prefixes for the conq effect. The chance for the essence to roll immolate (any level) is about 1 in 20 according to craft of exile. I did it in 10. Only level 16 but i got lucky. Then buy reforges and pray for conq effect.

Next step for me will be crafting one with immolate level 20 and pray for the Maven's Orb to make it 25. That will be a huge damage boost. If not start over.

I feel Soul of Lunaris is much much better for mapping and Ultimatums. You get 8% phys reduction, 10% projetile avoidance and 5% spell/attack dodge. You lose the crit "avoidance" if been crit recently but it still feels much better since those mobs usually don't oneshot you anyway and with elder LGOH and Poacher's Ring you heal very fast.

Ultimatums are fine. I don't have to move much and can clear them without issue on most maps but i don't roll crit or extra damage mods because they make them more difficult.
The build won't be as tanky as last league. It is much harder to cap life/resistance/damage on any gear due to the harvest nerf.

But it is really important to craft the helmet for damage sooner or later. The extra projectiles and 30% more damage make a huge difference. It is expensive and annoying though. And you need a lot of luck to be able to craft life on the helmet and have a resistance.

Buy ilvl86 hunter base, roll +3 max chaos as only influenced mod, get shaper ilvl85 base roll +2max res as only influence mod, awakener slam together and hope for good life roll. Reroll keeping prefixes with harvest till awesome.
Great build for early on loved the start. End game seems too hard in this league for the low damage output of this build.

Just want to point out that this guy has no max res on his shield, has the wrong anointment on his amulet, no attack speed on his gloves, and his weapon has the lowest attack speed roll you could get on his weapon, and is still using the Karui flask instead of Forbidden Taste.
