Actually, you don't need Biscos or speed rings. Minion Speed Gem and Frenzies are enough, both of which synergize well with melee golems. Minion Speed is like a pseudo-Increased AOE Gem for the Ice Golem Cyclone (can also easily swap with MinionDmg vs. bosses, or stick with Speed full time if you like, since they do decent damage already).

The golems keep up fine, whether your style/goal is efficient xp with lots of running/Shield Charging/whatever, or just want to chill out and play one-button style. Here's an example of mapping without abilities and flasks, just simple walking:

In other words, Ice Golems are more than possible without sacrificing build quality. Anyway, hope you don't mind me chiming in. Not trying be argumentative or anything, just wanted to provide what I feel is accurate info. I definitely agree with you that more minion speed would be nice for melee-style minions, but I think Ice Golems at least are working okay even without an MS buff.



As a side note, Stone Golems have a bad habit of using Default Move to approach mobs instead of just doing the rolling attack. This makes them unpleasant to play with imo, even with Melee Splash. Ice Golems never do that, which is why the two aren't really comparable. I think Ice is actually the only decent melee golem, even being stuck with one non-melee ability that messes up gem synergy/consistency.

Yeah no big deal in chiming in! I am actually happy to talk with experienced golem players, since i don't consider myself a super experienced golemancer.
Ice Golems are fine, just like the rest. They are all fine except Stone Golem. But let's be real: with such gear, levels and the rest: mapping is not really a problem at all. With literally ANY SKILL in the game :) There would be really minor differencies between most golems and spectres for example. So it's very hard to even show dramatic difference between them because in most cases they are fine-tuned and pretty close to each other.

Wrong and wrong.
1. Spectres MELT any bosses in matter of seconds. Seriously, they just do. I've played pure golems before, even with 27 level golems and double curse you can't compare them. TW are so fucking OP. Well, after Dyadus nerf maybe their dmg will be a bit lower, but who fucking cares.
2. They are literally immortal. They survive anything in the game without even scratch on HP. And yes, there are many ways to regenerate them in the tree and items plus AG. They survive even Shaper's bubble phase. Besides you always can cast convocation and use bone offering instead of flesh (which is better 100% of the time).

I think the whole point here is that you play golemancer and not golementalist, thus having big and better boosts for TV.
In this case it makes sense (to me at least).

But for a golementalist, TV don't survive everything (they can, still, but it happens), especially for endgame bosses (u.elder, shaper, uber atziri, vaal temple boss), where you have to have minion life / minion resist to have them stay alive.
So unless you have pseudo 6-7 links, it's not as good as golems.

Playing a golementalist since harbinger, with/without spectres, from my tests you see the difference on some bosses (especially when you don't use fire penetration with golems), but it's more QoL than real need to beat the game :)

I hope you don't mean the gear in my profile with +2 Skin of the Loyals. :P I take off exceedingly rare/legacy gear when I record videos and keep it to items that any player can reasonably attain in a 3-month league. If I use +2 SOTLs in a video, I make sure to say so in the description box so players don't get the wrong idea.

Nice vid, I got a couple of questions....
1/ why u take minion and totem elemental resistance support, when u have liege of primordial?
are they not immune from ascendancy already?

2/ why u need primordial eminence. wouldnt 1 anima/ 1 might /rest harmonies be better?
anima works off any 3 other jewels, not 1 of each?

3/ i have tried very similar build with victario's. the math I did at the time, put that ahead of an extra golem? have u tried victario's?

1. only elemental golems are immune, so chaos/stone are not.
2. according to POB, it increases the DPS (9 harmonies, 1 eminence), thanks to the cast speed bonus (which provide higher boost at this stage). Another advantage is also that is buffs the golem bonus
3. you lose 1 golem, but adds around 40k dps per golem, so it's worth for dps. Thing is, it requires you to have necromantic aegis, and you will only have frenzy charges in bosses (with only 5% chance to have one), so don't count on critical chance from power charges, so at the end it's roughly the same, another play style that has the advantage to speed yourself too.

The guy below basically answered everything, but i will add a bit.
Stone Golem is very squishy and he dies alllll the fucking time. It is mostly for him, and since mana can be tight for some people (if you don't have enough mana to recast golems completely) then it will help him a bit. Can as well be minion speed there!

Eminence is great for cast speed for all golems and for "minions can taunt with attacks" jewel that i have specifically for Stone Golem. It's in my belt. A nice little trick :)

Victario is great, but mostly for A LOT OF minions (for Necromancer mainly). You gotta sacrifice some skill points to go to Aegis. You could easily invest the same amount of skill points in JEWELS and have literally same damage or more life or more everything. Mapping could become slightly better, while bossing would become slightly worse. So overall it's just not big of a deal and not necessary.

is it possible that CWDT is proccing a lvl 12 stone golem that overwrites your lvl 20? resulting in a squishy stone golem?
I remember from my own testing I could not work out how to stop CWDT proccing clayshaper lvl 12 golem. I guess why i gave up and went victarios ( also for the shield charge mobility).
Although I would prefer now to have the 2 clayshapers, if there is a way to cancel the CWDT proc?

Don't level up your CWDT, you don't want it to be high level anyway: the lower it is, the more it will trigger. Then it won't trigger the lvl12 Stone
