Music.
Leave the current Music the way it is for Acts 1-3. As an Artist, Writer and a dabbler in Audio, the game will become worse when or IF you change your gut on things by altering the original Music in Acts 1-3!
My suggestion(s)? Leave the more darker sounding Music (as some have suggested here thus far) for OTHER acts via Act 4, 5 (however many acts PoE is bound to have.) At least if you make the Music different for acts above Act 3 only, players who currently like the Music now can enjoy what they originally were introduced to when they first started PoE. Music Sample Ideas to Listen to For acts above Act 3: With all the above being said, I would now like to suggest a few of my own dark, surprise-like Music Samples to listen to for acts above Act 3 only. The below samples are just to give some ideas (open in New Tabs) 1. Example sample of a Boss area in a future place in PoE? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpXe6VTjvnk (from Final Fantasy XII - The Feywood) 2. Example sample for a Town in a future Act in PoE? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqRhoppl7Qc (from Star Ocean 3 til the End of Time - Into a Storm Not Memorized) 3. Example sample for an area in a future Act in PoE? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcU1QfvWpFw (from Devil May Cry 3 - Stage 8) Ok, maybe not this dark, but you can take snippets from it to get an idea. 4. The PERFECT example sample to introduce something EPIC, notably a Boss in a future Act in PoE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmI2teQ6AnQ (from Onimusha 3 - "Day of Anger") 5. Another example sample for a Major Boss for a future Act? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8I1Hku8GQk (Start from 01:10 to 01:50 (fast-pace part) and 02:05 to 02:56 (when things get serious part) - from Devil May Cry 3 - Vergil Battle 3) Boss Battle Music in future planned Acts, GGG, needs a little more edge and life to them. Raise the bar a little higher! It will be worth it. 6. Example sample for another area in a future Act in PoE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4R5p3qxHu4 (from The Legend of Dragoon - Forbidden Land) 7. An example sample of a "What's to come next?! effect" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U29uVay5GYs (from Onimusha 3 - Demon Forest) Alright, so maybe do away with some of the asian-like instruments that may not be fitting for PoE (not that I don't like it,) but you get the idea! You want to keep players on their toes, and the above track demonstrates this best. Again, these are just some ideas to get your creatives juices flowing! Thank You for reviewing. HeavyMetalGear When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails. Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect. I really like the music in act 2 town, thing is I never really hear it cause we basically get to act 3 merciless within days and then spend months there. Is there any way act 3 merciless, once piety is killed the music randomly rotates all the town musics from the game to spice it up a bit?
I know its an odd request but I miss the music from the previous towns when act3 becomes a pit stop between maps for months. |

I'm getting an issue where every time I log into a character, ALL THE Sound+Music just caps out at maximum. Is there a way I can stop this? In the normal menu the volume adheres to my settings. Please help. :(

As a musician, I freaking love the OST. Don't change a thing.

music for me was great, but sometimes it should need some more boost. also some edits from the same track would be cool, and then randomly playing .. :)

I recently bought the supporter pack with extended OST and it's amazing. I usually play with sound off / other music source, but this is just amazing ambient.

not an issue but I played with the soundtrack on instead of game music last night and its so good. I may have an old version of merviel theme and vaal theme or never let it get that far but they are sick.
edit: also the ambiance in most of the zone tracks is so good. after playing for a while you know exactly where the track belongs to. props to the sound artist(s). Last edited by weezamon on Jul 19, 2013, 4:11:00 AM

Just wanted to say, the music in the Solaris Temple in Act 3 is absolutely beautiful! Amazing work. Very cinematic and evocative. Bravo.

Having completed normal difficulty for the first time, extended digital soundtrack was a tipping point in favor of open beta supporter pack rather than merely expanded stash bundle. I admired the music all the way, and I'd be hard pressed to recall the last time this was the case in a game (usually there're only 1-2 standing out tracks).
One minor nitpick is that Church Dungeon, truly amazing and immersive as it is on its own, standing at below 2:50 with a single motif becomes repetitive somewhat too fast in a large area that is the church. The reason I decided to post, however, is actually a bit of curiosity - what is the strings (I assume) instrument used ever so subtly throughout the soundtrack? (As can be heard most prominently in "Solaris Temple" at 5:12.) Or is it some sort of digital wizardry? :) |
