Your portal gem won't help you to survive in packs, don't negligate Enhance (4 on a +1 socket item) it's one of the most powerful gem of this build ^^

It is pretty cheap but 2r2g2b it's not what we need for this build.
What gem should I replace if not using a 2r1g3b ?

Also with specters I never had a problem, I summoned them in a Shaper map, the golems seem to die really fast in higher maps and that's a problem when they are the main damage source. On elementalist I never had this issue, the only time I've seen my golems die was in Uber Atziri at the 3 guys fight, and that's because I wasn't moving them out of those spells.

2r2g2b links would be :
Golem -> Empower -> Gmp -> Slower Projectiles -> Echo -> Minion damage.

This combo loses 20% damage compared to 2r1g3b or 3r1g2b but costs 1/10th.

Once Golems have enough base HP from all the levels and enough regen, they will be able to survive all bosses even without capped elemental resistances. Try to get Flame Golem gem 21/0 right when you reach level 70 as its huge boost to their damage and HP, and costs about 3c.

Shield Charge is very fast by also very dangerous movement skill. If you get stuck on textures or charge into packs, it can be instantly over. Phase Run is much safer as you can run through with less enemies targeting you.

Yup, MS would be nice but not at the moment. I plan to hit shield and helm first, maybe gloves later.

Any advice for helm crafting, does bound/dense fossil give a good chance at the minion mods we want? Ideally Bound/Dense/Scorched would be best for a chance at -9 resist to nearby enemies? Would -9 res to nearby enemies be more beneficial than minion damage or burning damage if a helm rolls strong ES/-9 res?

Hey :)

Bound + Dense is very good base to start. Rest of fossils have to be pretty much tested self as I have got very random results myself with my tests. Usually you end with less than 100 ES and movement speed or 200 ES and no movement speed.

I would rather take supports in helmet as they add much more damage. One interesting idea would be giving Animate Guardian helmet with "-x elemental res to nearby enemies", but haven't tested if it works myself.

Yep, Enhance is extremely good with curses. Once you will get high effect Temporal Chains running, it will be hard to play without it ;)

So I took Necromantic Aegis + Victario's Charity and I wanna point out you could ditch Efficacy Support for Enhance with Phase Run since the frenzy charges you get boost it's duration by a lot.

I get 16% more movement speed with lv 4 Enhance.

Oh wow, I saw this post and had to look up the gem section. I didn't even know Phase Run replaced Shield Charge, I just used my old Abyss league character as a template. So Phase run is better to use than Shield Charge now since it's an instant skill?

I stopped using shield charge b/c I kept hitting obstacles and getting stuck lol.

No, you can't alt/aug/regal with fossil crafting. It basically works like a chaos orb, it re-rolls the item. Except with fossils you are targeting stats. On mine I used Dense (for ES rolls) and Bound (for minion rolls). You are hoping for the +1 spectre and as high of es as possible, the resist stats were just luck.
