i wish a happy "getting rekt by unblockable aoe" to all participants.
i'm sure they'll be satisfied. "You have great power. You're right to be proud. It's unfortunate you have to die now, but I will honor you with 45% of my strength." Last edited by Rupenus on Oct 4, 2016, 2:52:50 AM

" 85% of deaths caused by random bear traps, very fun indeed. | |
yeah no wonder, people are getting rekt by unblockable aoe. bear trap, EA. you dont have to watch pvp vids anymore. you know what is going on inside. its all same.
salt has been spilled. "You have great power. You're right to be proud. It's unfortunate you have to die now, but I will honor you with 45% of my strength." Last edited by Rupenus on Oct 5, 2016, 6:12:55 AM

I was pleasantly surprised by these first two matches. Most of the time, I remember getting stomped on by Jorge and friends.
As for the salt in this thread, it's probably a perfect example of unwarranted complaining. EA was not in this match. Bear Trap is not an AOE (Hair Trigger gives it high range but it won't kill SRS like a real AOE. FireTarpin complains about those unlikable SRS), and Blast Rain is completely blockable (I have trouble killing Deep, tornadodude, and mull gubben, who are all strong blockers, even with BCR). FireTarpin's Fireballer is also blockable: his lack of BCR allows fast and tanky characters to kill him (shin and friends). I will concede that FireTarpin's Bear Traps can get out of hand. For example, he could Bear Trap all of the enemy spawns and enable two back to back flag runs singlehandedly. But he seems to be avoiding this practice nowadays. It hardly happened in the matches posted thus far. It's also quite interesting to get an outside perspective on our matches. Sometimes, I watched the minimap wondering what I was doing, when I also knew full well that I was trapping spawns, that I was out of Quicksilver Flask for flagrunning, and that I would die if I tried to run a flag. The 2nd match is a good example of imbalanced teams. The enemy team consisted of Shin, Fire, and me. In other words, Lemon's team had no reliable shin killers. Thus, Shin easily ran 3 flags. Jorge is pretty good, but shin is learning to kill him before grabbing the flag and taking 50% increased damage. This is emblematic of an inherent problem with PvP balance: a single build acting in the right way can break it. Take an 800% movespeed Pathfinder as an example. If the enemy team kills your defenders, he'd run 3 flags during your respawn time. He's insanely hard to hit, even with spells. You would need dedicated defense, a bear Trapper or constant strong AOE coverage on the flag. While unique builds lend flavor to PvP, some of their more extreme aspects may need refinement (though some would argue that those very aspects are the only things that enable their identity. Imagine Jorge without cast speed). IGN: ArborealTeapot [Standard] ~Your Happy Hugfriend~ (Not Hugfiend...) Last edited by Epee on Oct 5, 2016, 1:59:00 PM

Yea this second match wasn't as fun as the first. Still an interesting view though.

I'd like to add that in some matches (not necessarily the ones posted so far), we end up with players who actually take the time to sweep and render my trapper completely useless.
Jorge, Lib, firebitch, vlad and countless others are sweeping and slowly make their way onto our side of the map and then take control of the spawn points. They're playing it smart and it makes for interesting matches. As for when I'm playing Fireballer, it depends who I play against. The trend that's been going on these last few weeks is fire damage and shin caught on to that a WHILE ago. He can make fire damage relatively irrelevant (at least for a successful flag run) despite my stacking of fire pen or trying to use knockback. Other people also realized they can just charge at me for a high success rate since Fireball isn't like EA. If you get close, you can block the projectiles. Otherwise, my fireballer acts as a sentry for cover fire. In terms of strength in CTF, flag runners* (hyrri, anomaly, shin, etc), God Jorge, EA builds in interior maps (not actually OP in open maps at all) and bear traps are all T1. Firebitch's SRS is also really good. Other trappers give good control. Fireballer oscillates between T1 and T2 depending on the match ups I think. Melee builds suffer greatly, but allahu akbar mygalo can slap the glass cannons pretty good if he gets close. *Flag runners are either super speedsters or fighters that can deal with defenders. Overall tho, there's actually more room for diversity in CTF than in sarn or 1v1 so I dunno why people are hating :( Crit Shockwave Totem 650k +: #1657327 / Crit VMS (1 mil DPS): #1511368 / Crit self-cast spark: #1565708 1.3 crit firestorm: #1280086 / 1.3 crit Ice Nova: #1219809 / Flame Nova (sire of shards incinerate): #1359847 Last edited by Simplesim45 on Oct 5, 2016, 3:48:57 PM
