Patch 2.3.3

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.00Ghz)
4GB RAM
Sapphire NITRO R7 360 (2GB DDR5)
Windows 8.1
Steam version of the game client.

Performance became much worse. Entered my simple hideout - Elreon's layout, only crafting benches, 4 masters & the Prophecy totem - and moving around dropped FPS to as low as 10 while CPU usage jumped to 90%+ (without the experimental feature, the usage inside hideout stays within 50-70% range). Same issues persisted when I went to Ebony Barracks and tried to kill a few packs using Vortex.

Whatever was suppost to help seems to have broken something else.

I'm scared, last time GGG said "improve for most users", I can't play poe new league for a month. I think this is a conspiracy sponsored by computer hardware companies, they just want you to upgrade your computer.

YES! I'm really looking forward to testing the POOP out of this one. I think this is GOING TO BE FRIGGIN AMAZING!! MULTICORE FINALLY!!!

DX9 is not multi-core capable. What they are doing here is off-shooting some aspects of the game to a different thread. That might use more cores, it might not, but regardless, Poe is not becoming a multi-core executable since it's instruction set is still DX9-based.

The multithreaded engine features beta made a HUGE difference in game performance on my machine.

--CRASH TO DESKTOP--
I ran the aqueduct area on merciless three times to test it out, and had my computer crash to the desktop both times while trying to enter Highgates entrance. I used a waypoint to get to the beginning of the aqueduct area and farmed my way through to Highgate. I repeated the same area twice and then tried it once more with a new instance of the aqueduct and my computer still crashed to the desktop.

I then tried running through the city of sarn area from it's waypoint, and the southern forest from it's waypoint and didn't experience a crash when trying to enter their towns -but when running through the aqueduct area once more from it's waypoint, my computer crashed again.

To test it once more, I disabled --experimental-frame-optimizations and ran the aqueduct once again, and experienced another crash. So I don't know what's going on now. :)
It's never done this to me before. In fact, I was just playing this area a couple hours earlier today and never had it happen.

Moving from Highgate to the aqueduct through Highgates entrance and back doesn't trigger a crash.

Moving through waypoints seems to work fine.

You're not alone.
I ran several tests to try to isolate some conditions for the crashes to happen, but quite hard to tell that early.
Finally, i just disabled the cmd line addon, and i got some crashes aswell, though less often.
Looks like it's not entirely specific to the multithread thing...

Wow, so much hype for this change! Finally getting some decent fps while attacking.

And then I tried it....

Running through aquaducts
WITHOUT option -> Lowest I saw was 25fps
WITH option -> Lowest now 15fps and I stutter around horribly + Crash trying to enter Highgate.

Please GGG, learn from the last performance changes and DON'T let this go live without an option to disable it!

I'm seeing a noticeable IMPROVEMENT.

My build relies on freezing and exploding enemies, so large packs were causing hitches previously when they all exploded on the same frame. Now I can nuke those packs and performance stays silky smooth.

Nice job!
Intel i5 4690 3.5GHz
16GB Ram
nVidia 750Ti (1024x768)
Windows 7 x64
Samsung SSD 850EVO 120GB

At least by now it's running smoother when turning on the new multithreaded engine.

I did some tests with Burning ground, and the difference is noticeable with and without the command line.

How does one know if their processor can handle multi threading?

Threads are virtual pieces of code. Cores are physical assemblages on your processor, all computers can handle multiple threads, in fact, you might have 100 threads running on your system right now.

So i tested the multi thread beta test feature.

FEEDBACK!

Hideout:

everything was fine, less stuttering than before without vertical sync activated , 111-125 fps

aqueduct:
everything fine

Aqueduct cleaned from wp to the end of the area, then tp to act3 town:
Crash to desktop at the loading screen after clicking tp.

aqueduct wp area to act 3 town from the same opend session after logging back
no crash

Maps done in hideout: no crash
necropolis, chateau, excavation

in game settings:

all at max, V sync unchecked

Performance:

"
Fps is more stable in combat, no difference otherwise.
( tested with flicker strike 10 aps + melee splash + extra gore)

but this difference in combat is insane ;)
I like it.

Because fps doesnt drop to 50 or lass, and is always superior to 60, i disabled in game vsync and forced FASTsync in the nvidia drivers

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx_1080_review,4.html
for a fast sync explanation

This beta PATCH IS AWESOME. Best PoE experience ever.

I will never be good but always I try to improve.
