Lets talk about 'stealing builds' and copy-cats

I copied icedeal's st dot idea and I can't wait to show all of you bow guys ;)

I've seen it in Talisman sarn arena and it was annoying.

Im looking forward to seeing what happens with hld "balance" updates incoming and then I might actually make an HLD char. I'll have to hit up Tommie for a nice build.

haha yeah, morerain, the whole point of the build is to offscreen offscreeners etc etc. ST goes through icewall, more they run more they bleed (or at least make them swapout ammy for less crit). I would still prefer to play melee if it was competitively viable. Then again, my conversion tali's have been tucked away in talis league where I actually got them, so we'll just have to see how they do for my melee guy in the coming weeks.

No one can directly copy a build, only imitate it to the best of their ability through observation without actually seeing gear/tree. Some are easier to replicate then others and some are super flowchart where even a monkey could make it.

Besides that thing's progress as follows,

People bring new things to PvP all the time, some stick some don't. The idea's that have staying power are continually borrowed. People message asking for advice/reasoning as to why then show up with it the next day. Damn near every 2h'r to this day started out something different and messaged me or bigdaddyslam in the early years of this game for advice then ran with it. You name a name and I can tell you what they played before 2h and what they brought to 2h or simply borrowed.

Explosive arrow is the same, I've always showed up to say Firebrand and that one fucking guy I can't remember started it with cold to fire bug. Slay had his own way to play it, Mies, Lib, bitchslapped all added their own touches but in the end it was those 2 that took it far in PvP in the first place.

Just like Herpes/Haunt/Shadow with low life ek...though shadow will tell you herpes copied him and I can actually believe that.

I'm sure its funny to everyone else too when they queue up and fight a guy who seems to be a near copy and paste of yourself but it is what it is. People gravitate to what's easy/strong/profitable and that will remain the reasoning for 90% of people's builds til this game is dead. PvM is no different and hell we've already had people show up in this section bitching there are no builds to copy so they can't PvP.

Bc it's weaker then pure EA and a lot less flexible.

Some people play this game the way they want to Lapiz, win or lose/meta or not. That's the other 10% remaining out of that 90 I mentioned.

As this game evolves it becomes more common knowledge what works and less experimentation is required so you'll see a surge of such things til they are nerfed or no longer as viable. That's how everything is, a tiny nerf usually = jumping ship or claims that something is "dead" "not viable anymore". Look at any game and that's the way it works. There's still that small percent that don't give enough of a fuck and just keep playing "their" game. Why you have low tier character specialists in fighting games, people using shotguns in most fps when its dominated by ar/smg etc..

Btw anyone else think it would of been cool if we all got the Scion treatment for Ascendancy? Would of been really good for build diversity and a lot less obvious what people are running. I hope our portraits don't show our sub class, think I saw that somewhere.

Portaits WILL show the subclass (confirmed by alpha stream). Maybe we need a paint addon to blacken them.
