lets say we have a big amount of increased damage with out gear, gems and skilltree (fire, ele, burning, area)... 590% all together which are additive.

a inc burning damage gem (59%)would result in 10% more damage, because its additive. to it. less duration is still 29% more damage, because its multiplicative to the increase modifier.

lets say we deal 1000 dmg per sec.

1000 x 5.90 = 5900 dmg (base)
1000 x 6.49 = 6490 dmg (burn dmg gem)
1000 x 5.9 x 1.29 = 7611 (less dur)

Yes thats what i am often talking about in the guide: There is not a BEST way to skill, gear and use gems for EVERY situation for every league and every playstyle.

I just posted MY version, which is in my opinion pretty solid for everything, but i will never say its the BEST for everything ;)

For me the most important thing with a guide is that people understand the mechanics behind it, learn them and learn to use those themself :)

Hey guys i have newb question. Does RF scale with 2 traps? I Mean should i place 2 totems in same place to do better dmg or it wont work? Thanks for answer.

Overlapping RF doesn't stack.

Use the second totem to cover more area.

So I have a question... with what would you do more damage (I'm talking about RF totems, obviously), with a Increased Burning Damage gem or a Rapid Decay gem? I don't really like Rapid Decay 'cause it reduces the duration of my totem, so I was wondering maybe I could change it with the IBD gem... but that mainly depends on the damage scaling.


And yes, I have a 5L. Can't have both :P

rapid decay, by far.

its only 15% duration on every level, you shouldnt notce it at all. The penity is not as high as the one of reduce duration gem

i would only use the burning dmg gem in that case if i am really low on chromes amd dont have the green socket

I knew it! Rapid Decay it is then... what a shame that this gem has a penalty like that. It would be much better without it. Not that I'm complaining, I like damage :P
