Critical Strike Affliction Support

Ah right.

Well sort of.

Chin Sol provides a 'Bow damage' multiplier, not an 'attack damage' multiplier.

Double dipping still has to go.
It's worth noting that +2 maps are a dangerous thing.

'Bow' is a weapon type, and all weapon Damage is automatically Attack Damage :P So, perhaps not truly "explicitly". Fair enough.
probably already mentioned but a drillneck and 100% pierce will give you 100% increased proj damage. so thats something to try with poison if you guys havent already
10% of your damage dealt per second for 2 seconds. Since it stacks with itself that is directly 20% more damage. At level 20 you also get an 120% increase for this damage, making it 44% more damage. Add 20% quality you get 20% duraton which translates to 20% damage bringing the total to 53%.
If you run Vulnerability you deal an additional 33% DoT damage, for a grand total of 70% more damage.

Am I missing something or is this gem pretty OP?
You're missing one bit: Poison only scales off Physical and Chaos Damage. It's only that powerful if you deal zero Elemental Damage.

Of note: it still hits Resistances (that you cannot reduce), and it takes time. If you need a 30% More Damage boost to one-shot Magic enemies, then swapping that Support for Poison rapidly diminishes clear speed, despite the big boost to single-target damage. Whether Poison is good for your setup or not isn't quite so simple.
so the wiki says poison only scales with +damage, +Dot damage, +chaos damage, and +poison damage....tho also projectile damage if applied by a projectile.

does this mean that is also scales with other sources of damage if its applied with them? like area damage if its applied with an AoE skill, or spell damage if its applied with spells? or is it static just damage, dot, chaos and poison?

a lot of people in their threads are assuming it scales with AoE, traps, etc. calculating their DPS (i think falsely) by scaling it with conc effect 59% MORE aoe damage to poison, and the trap MORE damage to their poison damage as well
From the poison Q&A:
"
- if Poison is linked to a Spell, does "increased spell damage" also increase poison damage? (double dipping on degeneration)?
- same question about Area of Effect.
[..]
- No, unless the skill has a modifier that makes "spell damage" modifiers apply as "spell damage or damage over time" modifiers, such as Essence Drain
- No. A poison is inherently single target (each poison debuff is only on the one enemy, after all), so isn't area damage, even if the original source of the damage was.

Trap should apply similar to Projectile, but god only knows at this point. Poison is filled to the brim with exceptions and specific rulings :/
(I do suggest reading the whole block for this question by the way! It explains Spell Damage further)
They need to remove double-dipping from every degeneration.

But Poison is like 2-3 times more powerful than Ignite.

Poison only procs off of Physical and Chaos damage? Ignite only procs off of Fire.

its a lot more than two or three times more powerful....poison stacks. so even with its base duration at one stack its probably 2-3 times more powerful, it stacks more and more stacks. so after 10 seconds it fighting its like 200x more powerful
Well yes and no.

Ignites can be scaled easier from the tree and gear than poison can. It's a lot more feasible to get 800% increased fire damage than it is to get 800% increased chaos damage.

That's important because the scaling for fire damage double dips by making the initial fire hit bigger and then making the resulting burn proportionately bigger again.

God I hate double dipping.

Poison is still multiple times better than ignite. And Bino's lets it proliferate without a 20% reduction in damage. And the Poison support gem takes up one gem slot instead of the two slots that Chance to Ignite and Increased Burning Damage take up. And the Poison support gem provides double the benefit of Chance to Ignite. And the Poison support gem provides double the benefit of Increased Burning Damage. And it stacks. And poison can be used on Atziri and Rigwald, but they're immune to ignite. And all the poison granting items and supports and passives are 100% chance to inflict, while all the ignite items and passives are 5%.

So yeah, it's way out of whack.
