HLD low life caster - Dragoje

mines might help, but they are not optimal vs ranged rushers. Furthermore I am very strained on sockets, so in order to fit in a mine I need to have an item swap with the corresponding gems already in the item - currently I have 3 of these setups - well 2 + one in preparation after the lapiz aftermath xD.

I had sold luck to get a good pair of boots


for this setup.

but more importantly I think my strategy vs rushers was quite bad - I tried to cast the auras as fast as I can at the beginning of the round (yes I moved a bit and all but I prioritized it over all else) which is catastrophic in my opinion now.

Also the lack of bleed flasks/bloodgrip did not help either in that encounter.

My HLD ll caster uses firestorm as well, i dueled lapiz a bit yesterday on his dual wield mirrored crit weapons whirling blades spectral throw melee build. It does pretty high crit damage and yes he will rush you so you cant aura up, i was winning most of the time and i would stack firestorms at the start of the round and make sure you use INC duration. You cast discipline since its mandatory the very second the round starts and then start stacking the storms on yourself so he cant rush and dps you and you should have time to cast your other auras, it was working for me.

I personally think you focused a lot on defenses missuse, you dont have enough output from the tree, if i compare my tree to yours there is a HUGE difference in damage stacking, you have almost none when i have probably too much. But i have yet to see a melee that had the upper hand on me, not even lapiz with 2 mirrored crit weps.

PS Also make sure you use a cwdt settup against these crit builds, you need to DPS them down before they DPS down you. Molten,FPen,Firestorm,CWDT works wonders for me.

I can give you an idea of my build missuse, it has 8.5k ES Overall with a firestorm X-Y of ~ 3200-4200 Fire damage with 55% crit, 550 multiplier at .33 cast time.

thats what i think also, his firestorm damage is not punishing enough for those who got caught in the aoe.

Comparing stats just by looking at my build without the jewels is bad methodology. I have 6x4 mod jewels and 1 unique atm.
My tooltip is 3.4k with 4 casts / s with unique lapis and 4.3k with leg amulet (a bit less than 4 casts / s). 9.5 k es vs casters (51/50 block), 11k vs non casters. I admit it is a rather defensive setup. You probably have arround 6k tooltip. I will test opting for less es, dropping zo but that is not as optimal starting from templar.
As i already stated in op I dont like to deal dmg via molten/cwdt but it looks i will have to change my view on that if I am to be competitive.

ZO is not bad in pvp, but the main drawback is that it really doesnt work against all builds so you are prone to suffering once you encounter someone that bypasses it in some way, and you can see it against crit builds, ZO is really good against DOTs or skills like EA who proc an ignite etc. But when fighting a crit build the regen is almost useless because of the spike damage output. I would personally remoze ZO and invest in more damage by taking atleast the witch fire pen cluster which is really good.

I dont have to see your jewels to take them into consideration, i can easily make my own idea of what kind of jewels you use since i play storm too.

How much x-y fire are you delivering so i can have an idea ? as well as how much crit/crit ?

anyway I just checked my stats, and your seem off the chart.

in my normal defensive setup with leg crit amulet I have
1265 - 1914
0.27 cast time (3.7 casts / s)
41.34% chance
528% multi

which is stupidly lower than yours. One more thing do u use inc duration always or did u swap emp for it?

since your stats in a 4L basically + (BCR + inc duration) seem insane.

When i dont need as much aoe i use conc effect and reach 3.2k-4.2k, if i need more ground control and swap conc for something like crit damage like you do i will have 1.8k-2.7k with 633 multiplier 54% chance, 533 if i dont use crit dmg.

I swap emp4 for inc duration depending on the situation, ofcourse the damage goes down even more if i remove emp4, but sometimes its worth it to stack more.

There are times where i will use inc crit strikes instead of conc and can reach 64% crit chance, it really all depends.

As a side note, melee chars really are quite bad ;<

The melee I played vs you 2 is very close to its max potential but there are sooooooo many things setup-wise you could do to counter me. Haunt had a few good suggestions but there is a lot more.


At the same time I really have no options left to try and counter such chars q_q

I'll give a cookie if someone comes up with a suggestion that is actually feasible for me. I really feel like there's not much else I can do. WB is seriously the only melee skill that deals damage AND isn't clunky af.

Have you tried using a shield so you dont get hit as much from the storm ? i know your crit damage would drop but you get some block which would probably help against so many hits.

Have tried shield version as well and it is horrible compared to DW+acro. The damage just isn't there..
