If I'm going trickster in HC do I slot in a pierce gem to hit near 100% pierce (with drillneck since I cant pick up deadeye)? Would I drop increased AoE in a 5L for it if so?

If your goal is to simply level quickly with a bump to income via magic find then this is a good strategy. Havoc and Zizran advocate leaving everything but maps, good currency, valuable uniques/cards and maybe good bases on the ground.

On the other hand Havoc et. all are just trying to level as fast as possible and dump whatever currency they find into maps and their own gear.

But if you don't pick up rares you won't find stuff like:


For me, income seems to be:
1) 15-25% from finding exalts, divines and chaos
2) 25-30% from chaos recipe, selling fuses and such
3) 15-20% from selling low value rares and junk uniques
4) 15-25% from high value rares
5) 20-25% from high value uniques, cards

I'm not very good though at quickly assessing the value of rares - I"m letting income slip by from items 3 and 4 for sure.

The value of picking up and id'ing just about all rares is going to depend heavily on how fast you can do this. Serleth has this down to an art as seen in this video.

Something's going wrong here. Either you're not valuing your items appropriately, or you've run into the shittiest RNG I've ever seen.

I would advocate taking Piercing Shots instead and using AoE as Trickster, unless you have a corrupted +arrow Drillneck. In that case, you would run Pierce or Slower Projectiles.

been running mid-high tier maps today instead, and just found


within 200 wisdom scrolls. seems like the RNG is better in higher maps.

Yup - run T6-T12 for best results; Tier 7 starts the so-called mid-Tier maps which will roll more profitable affixes; T12 is a high-Tier map and will roll even more worthwhile (but potentially dangerous) affxies.

- Is it normal than without Pierce gem, so when i play with Deadeye passive + Drillneck + Piercing shots passive = I have only 90% Arrow pierce chance ? Am I missing something ?
To have 100% I actually play with pierce gem and refund 3 of the 4 piercing shots passives.



- Do you keep doing the chaos receipe ? I feel like it takes so much time to do, and is it worth to do the "2 chaos receipe" with unidentified gear ?

No worries about the English, a bunch of folks in this thread aren't native English speakers.

90% pierce is plenty, and there's nothing wrong with your math. I'd still drop the pierce gem.

Chaos recipe is extremely fast once you get good at it. I personally look out for rings and amulets, once I get those I collect the next armour / weapon set I run across and build the set from there. I always do the unidentified sets for 2c.

Personally, the way I see it we're dropping enough accessories to make it worthwhile.

For raw clear speed builds who will only complete a recipe say... every 15-20 maps, it's not worth their time.

But given how many amulets and rings etc. that we drop, we end up with pretty much anywhere between 500-1000% more amulets/rings/belts than they'll drop.

It's definitely worthwhile if you're just smashing low maps and doing ilvl 71 or less unid recipes but when the t2 resistance opens up at ilvl72, which is where I personally recommend to start iding everything, it's a bit of a coin flip on whether it's worth doing the recipe.

But the way I see it is this:

I can complete and vendor a recipe in about 10 seconds total (sorting all the parts initially to "prepare" the recipe, then the vendor itself once I actually find the missing accessories). The odds of me finding more than that chaos (or equivalent) in those 10 seconds in a map... pretty low.

So, I do them.

Pierce is 4th best support gem for CA until you get a +3 bow and level 3 Empower. Keep using pierce until then.
