Without decent traps Melee will faceroll all builds ALL DAY. Melee already facerolls me and I use point blank tornado shot traps.

It's the High Explosives passive that makes trap do so much damage.. Still I feel elemental traps are in a decent spot because there are so many ways around them including not playing like a retard as was displayed yesterday. 250 ping and bad setup didn't help either ;P
Path of melee is already almost there I feel if it wasn't for elemental traps. Puncture is already useless and can be consistently won by the best melees with good setups. Path of melee is a bad thing but it will be extremely hard to balance the game out of that unless GGG wants to shift the meta to something else entirely and nerf melee to the ground. | |

lapiz had Ping from EU, and he wasnt even using a ranged switch what the fuck did you expect? Until you have a well geared trap character, and are forced to try and defeat huge melee's like oats and lapiz, shut the hell up about balance. take away high explosives or clever construction, or any significant nerf to traps, there will be ONE meta, and it will be melee. I'm not saying melee damage is justifiable either, though. Trap does too much damage. Scaling melee down is the first step, but by no means is trap at a good place.

Is the only way to counter traps block chance? I'm finding it hard to go against trappers who can one shot me. I have decent life, but as a 2h player I can't help but think it is impossible to counter trappers. They can throw traps so often and can have clever construction. Making one misstep can instantly kill me. I can't use leap because they still trigger, I can't use whirling blades because I don't use sword/dagger. Do I just have to not even use my build because of traps? Is block the only way around it? I try to use arc, but even still they just shoot puncture instead.
I don't understand how in the tournaments people didn't get one shot from the bow trappers. I mean the spell dude fucked people up in one shot. In bloodlines all I ever get is bow trappers who can one shot. It makes playing pvp unplayable. Doesn't seem like a fun mechanic. If you have ways of countering traps, please do tell. I've tried many different methods. And yes, I've tried arc. You can't even tell if you kill traps or not. It doesn't have a visible indication. fire trap multi trap is a great hard counter. If you play it right you can burn up the traps on the ground and fuck up trappers cooldown buffer, leaving you a grace period to flicker/attack without any consequence. Timing is a great counter to trappers, finding that time is what separates the boys to men haha.
*although in the case of a 2h against a bow trapper you're thoroughly fucked. I'd pick up a 1h/shield to close gap or use a bow to blink arrow past the traps. You can also wait the 9 seconds and then blink arrow + multistrike melee splash flicker then attack. There are a lot of ways to beat a trapper. They aren't unbeatable, but the damage is too high. |

If you look back at the tournament videos you can see that sidro did not 1 shot people with 1 trap, a lot of the time it took 2 traps and maybe a self cast freeze pulse or 2 to bring them down. Just did some calculations...I am just estimating here, I did most of the math in my head and my comps calculator. Taking into account pvp damage formula, 85% res, and assuming sidro uses cold pen and high explosives (~i used a total 30% just to make things easy) his tooltip would have to be like 3000 damage on average....that's with lmp. so 9000 damage. Which is stupidly unrealistic. Even if he crit with all three projectiles, I doubt it would 1 shot. Maybe if the stars were aligned and you were shocked and the 3 projectiles crit, and it got all high rolls....maybe then you got 1 shot.
