HLD most unbalanced thing
Hi to GGG and hld pplz, i try to tell several times how penetration gems ar OP in HLD. If u play HLD u can see now that every build in top 10 pvp bulds use elemental dmg with penetration gem, u can see power of -35% res (21lvl -36%) gem + nods(-2-3%). Community do threads about how OP is EA, plz nerf FP shotgun or 2H too stong, but i thing the core of all problems is 3 small support gems(fire, cold, light penetration).
I think GGG need to see this problem and do this gems -15%(i talk only about PVP).So we can see a better high time pvp fights, more phys builds or some new setups IMHO.(sry for my english) 100lvl mele pvp QUIT

I am pretty decent on the ladder and I am not ele based. However the problem still remains. But tbh the spell themself imo can be worked around with pen, it's the cwdt/cws spells that oneshots+molten shell

" Exactly, problem isn't penetration it's cwdt spells and the damage they can do. Penetration is a must for some skills to even be viable. I know I've said in the past penetration should be toned down but I sat down again and thought about it. Everything comes back to cwdt and how it has fucked PvP badly. Physical builds have been neutered heavily even when they were already destroyed by Molten Shell. Cwdt IC just made this ever more obvious. I've been using AOF religiously since it was re introduced into the game for these very reasons. Cwdt spells doing 1/2 your life per cast is a big issue, this is a gem that is no longer used for utility its a second/third or fourth main attack ontop of your Tempest/Molten set up. Cwdt is obviously already here and has already fucked up hlding but atleast lower the damage spells can do when linked to it. 6%more + quality...too much, this gem should be 50% LESS damage at level 20. Let people penetrate resists and self cast, let them tempest,aegis,molten,cheese games with es run away regen. Just fix cwdt, its lazy, its bull shit and it directly affects melee and again just like 99% of the other things in this game has little to no affect on ranged. If there is 1 thing in this game that 100% solidifies how GGG would rather wipe your ass then let you look bad when you have 0 skill its CWDT. PvP will never be about the better player or skill gaps as long as CWDT is a thing. Open beta was the last "true" PvP we had. Stop giving people lazy shit especially stuff that kills people in 1-2 hits. Thinking the counter gems for melee put this on equal ground would make you insane. Those gems blow and have severe penalties in PvP. That's also the crappiest way to approach the issue, to give people more auto bull shit. If PvP at high level is to ever be taken seriously, this is the first thing you should be addressing. GGG, the ADA of gaming....huuuur i gotz mai skilz. Depends, everyone got their own different setup. Either with or without, that's not the problem but the trigger gems are

I agree that Penetration gems are strong since its ignore your res and deliver 35% of elem dmg to your life directly but if you compare it with physical damage which is very high +100k dps delivered to your health directly considering most caster got low defense state (low physical reduction)
Molten Shell only works with block or Armour: example evasion caster using molten shell will get less benefit from it comparing to block caster or Armour caster (spell + Elemental gem penetration) = physical attack or EK nerfing Elemental gem penetration will give the upper hand to physical build |

Min ~30block(which is 100% less damage), high es pool and they have the same acess to Immortal call as anyone else which gives 100% immunity to physical damage. You know there's a reason to why Elemental is superior to physical damage. Have you played PvP on a serious level? And about your other reply. Nerf stun? Why? Stun is so easy to counter by an amulete or keystone and hardly anyone build something to permastun as it's so easy to counter. I'd like to see a buff to stun to make melee somewhat viable. Either way it wouldnt solve the issues at all. CWS sure is a good gem, however CWDT still remains. I've had pretty informative and accurate discussions regarding triggergems and their viability in PvP, and if anyone want me to write a whole topic about I don't mind. Elemental penetration is not the bigger problem here, trigger gems are It's hard to remember what you have forgotten
