Solution: Expand Premade PvP char selection and make torunaments using only those characters.
just as they are not removing legacy items they will not invalidate gear collected over many many months.
They are working (or planning on...) on a system where you race and pvp at the end of it with w/e you found on the way. The exact conditions and rules have not been announced but it was hinted on a an event of similar style being in the works. Im fine with having certain events that have pre defined gear sets but this can't and shouldn't replace the current style of pvp. With how accessible the majority of gear is to craft using elreon the excuse that some people have no gear is kind of moot. Almost anyone that wants to pvp at high level should not find it too hard to acquire the items. Its currently unreasonable for new players in the racing scene to expect to be in the top 5/10. I dont see why the same can't apply to pvp. ps. Also plenty of people who have not been pvping prior to 1.3 are getting in top16 on swiss. Therefore gear is accessible enough for the ones that seek it LLD BOTW spark/arc caster guide http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1133731 Last edited by andkamen on Dec 28, 2014, 1:38:52 PM

" Oh god, you're funny aren't you. Sure you're top in races, because you got experience. WHile you got that, others played alot pvp. Also that you compare racing to pvp, since as people stated you know this is an arpg => Farm to progress. Let's kick those who already spent years doing this It's hard to remember what you have forgotten

" I am not saying to kick anyone that has invested the time or currency. I just point out the harsh attitude towards some even playing ground. " People with no pvp experience prior to 1.3 are in the top in pvp currently. Last edited by terrex on Dec 28, 2014, 1:55:07 PM

" Guess it's not that unfair then? But I get what you're saying, but it would just benefit newer players It's hard to remember what you have forgotten ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why are police looking for missing people? " It needs more players to grow.. I hope that is somewhat of a common goal for pvpers. And they are at the top why? Mostly gear and using one of the few more favorable builds at the moment. Not necessarily because they excel at playing in pvp in path, I am not doubting anyones abilities though. Can use Skyforth's posts as a reference. It's not the case for everyone but it is something that will make a huge gap and make some events not as welcoming for people starting to pvp. Not all events need to be like that though, some obviously the better equipped characters need to shine for competitions sake. I just feel the state of pvp there is still a lot of imbalance in a few skills and heavily in gear, it's extremely hard for a new player to get engaged in it unless they invest a lot to begin with.
arpg game, ofcourse gear matters

" this should be a STICKY, many people dont get it wonder why is that hard?
" In games like these people get jelly of other peoples' gear and therefor gear shouldnt matter It's hard to remember what you have forgotten

" It just contradicts with many statements. It really does come down to pvgear. I am not saying it's wrong but to me it isn't much of a test of ones abilities. I don't think we will get much further away from the crazy gear state for perm league pvp, temp league pvp might be a lot better for everyone aside from 15 people.
" blame GGG for legacy items not those "15 people" you mentioned, it seems you guys really not trying PvP that much, the PvP formula needs some tweaks and same with certain skills than just being worry about crap like protect the "noobs" from "experienced" PvPers. also because of this mindset we dont have a crossleague between leagues....
