Enki's Arc Witch - dead for now
"It is 100% reduced, not less. It affects the amount of increased crit chance but does not bring it to zero. |
" Both Anomalous Arc and Divergent Arc are valid options. Divergent Arc will straight up increase the damage you do if you chain, while Anomalous Arc will make you chain more easily. The choice depends on mob density (and on what you prefer). |
" Indeed, the pool of possible helmet enchants is way too big to reliably farm the one you want. Either buy it, or run Uber Lab when you have a few good 'universal' bases (either frequently used uniques like Crown of the Inward Eye, or ilvl 85 Hubris Circlets, ...) and enchant them all. You could get lucky and hit the enchant you want, or you might get another valuable enchant worth several exalts so you can later buy the one you want. " It actually can hit zero, but not in the setup Enki has made. The formula is: Total crit chance = (base crit chance of spell/weapon + the sum of all % to critical strike chance)*(1 + the sum of all % increased/reduced crit chance) You could actually get to 0% chance to do a critical strike when your only source of the %increased/reduced is the -100% from Controlled Destruction. -> 5% base crit chance * (1 - 100/100) = 5% base chance * 0 = 0% crit chance However this build utilises a few small passives on the tree and the buff from Ice Golem to add some % increased, so you will still be able to crit. Hello guys !
First of all, thank you Enki for this nice build. I have been using it over the years as both a league starter and an endgame finisher, it is great. And here i am again, looking for advices. I have about 4 ex now, not playing a lot. Where should i aim for improvement now ? I have checked the watcher's prices, and its above 10 ex, which is a long way to go. Thank you all ! |
" For 4 ex, I'd probably suggest getting a watcher's eye with increased mana recovery rate ( https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Ritual/5nj5dVta ), a pure talent and a crown of the inward eye with the arcane cloak enchantment. If you have to fix resistances for the crown, look into that first. |
" All of what the above poster said plus look for boots with 50-70% mana regen if you cast a spell recently enchant. They can be a bit expensive depending on the stats you need. Last edited by Zuuule#6329 on Feb 18, 2021, 8:19:42 AM

" Cool thx for the explanation. So does that mean in boss fights against one mob divergent doesn't do anything since arc doesn't chain? |
" Thank you very much, looking into it right now. The crown of the inward eye looks great, but means lots of investment in resistances. The cerulean rings with tri res are very expen$ive and i'll need tri res on belt and gloves as well. I will also check for the 75% mana enchant, looks great ! |

" In boss fights with only 1 enemy the quality effect of both Divergent and Anomalous Arc are useless. The quality effect of Divergent is usefull when enemies are close enough together to chain, otherwise Anomalous is better. Consider an ARC where are all hits do exactly 1000 damage and you have 200% increased damage on your tree/gear. Say your normal quality Arc chains 7 times: 1st enemy hit: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^7 = 7980 damage 1st chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^6 = 6939 damage 2nd chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^5 = 6034 damage 3rd chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^4 = 5247 damage 4th chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^3 = 4563 damage 5th chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^2 = 3968 damage 6th chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^1 = 3450 damage 7th chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^0 = 3000 damage Now look at Divergent Arc with 7 chains: 1st enemy hit: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100) * 1,15^7 = 7980 damage 1st chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100 + 10/100) * 1,15^6 = 7170 damage 2nd chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100 + 20/100) * 1,15^5 = 6436 damage 3rd chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100 + 30/100) * 1,15^4 = 5772 damage 4th chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100 + 40/100) * 1,15^3 = 5171 damage 5th chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100 + 50/100) * 1,15^2 = 4629 damage 6th chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100 + 60/100) * 1,15^1 = 4140 damage 7th chain: 1000 damage * (1 + 200/100 + 70/100) * 1,15^0 = 3700 damage The effect of Divergent Arc is the greatest on the last chain, so if you manage to chain 7 times with a Divergent Arc you'll deal 23% more damage compared to normal or Anomalous Arc (in this example with 200% increased damage on you tree/gear!). The effectiveness of Divergent Arc decreases the more %increased damage you have on your Arc. If you have for a second example 2000% increased damage on your Arc, than you only deal 3,5% more damage on the 7th chain. Extra damage with chains are nice, but only if you manage to chain. The problem will be to chain 7 times, and Anomalous Arc will make it easier to chain. So, at the end of the day it's a choice based on what density of enemies you'll expect.
