I still think skipping Bastion of Elements is a mistake. We pick up 20+ notables, that is a 2000+ shield. Personally I find that more valuable than 15% more dps.

On a side note, I wonder how possible it would be to make a low life build that relies on BoE to stay alive. I think I might just try that. Prison Guardian with Wrath, Zealotry, and something else. The shield protects against hits,so I need to look at enemies that don't hit for viability, possibly could make it work with some ES.

I agree that mana recovery is going to be the biggest issue with a non-Necromancer build. I think going the golem buffs route is actually much more likely to allow for continued spamming of Arc on bosses. The Liege of the Primordial auto-resummoning golems works great with this.

Most Archmage builds I see don't rely on spamming a self-cast skill. Losing Essence Glutton will mean losing almost half of our total regen. This build really thrives on increased cast rate, and running out of mana will limit the DPS. While I think the build can still perhaps get enough mana with Cloak of Defiance/Atziri's Foible, we might need to not use the Agnostic for the extra tankiness. Running Righteous Fire is also probably out of the question.

Thinking about it more, I guess it's probably possible to keep the Archmage build by sacrificing the Agnostic/Righteous Fire, and that might be how Enki's getting a ton more damage out of the Elementalist build - by having both golems and Archmage for damage scaling.

What about going for the double block node and taking advantage of the % mana recovered on block? No clue how often that actually procs with 75/62 block though can probably mitigate a bit. Otherwise replacing a few of the offering/necro/minion damage specific mods on gear that are no longer useful for mana/regen ones as well.

With the changes to minion damage and no more necro, the entire minion damage nodes on the far left aren't as useful anymore. Can go for the +1 golem node near the top and hit 4 golems adding stone golem in which gives another 400-500 life regen and 18% damage reduction from chaos.


Some interesting options going for Golem Commander up top, Glancing Blows, or dipping down from the health nodes to take Battle Rouse, Supreme Ego, and Arcane Chemistry. I'm probably going to try a mix of some of those this time though still going to be uphill battle for mana.

Elementalist rework is huge. I'm sitting in front of the build forum and refreshing it every 5 minutes :) I'm absolutely sure that Enki will turn this into a powerhouse this league. So hyped...

I have my Necro in Standard and might want to occasionally keep playing her later.
How much is she hit by ascendancy changes? Would it be feasible to respec her into Elementalist version?

My own thoughts: she lost 20% inc mana and 50% inc damage which sounds like a lot; and I think she can keep her gear, most gems (desecrate/offering have to go, obviously), and most of her tree (drop Spiritual Aid and maybe Kitava's Teachings).

Archmage non-Necro builds usualy use Unleash or Great Spell Echo (or both) couse they dont have mana sustain.

So it can work for Elementalist, but I dont sure about survivability without any block/dodge mechanics in ascendancy.

And Elementalist have some sustain - 1% from WoC trigger :)

It's too bad replica kaom's heart doesn't have sockets 500 base mana and lightning damage would be nice for this build.

It's very feasible to work it in. We have few enough sockets to require the 6L, just make sure to go with a 2H. I think your overall damage wouldn't be better though if you went SB or OoS as a second 6L. Either way Enki will never pick it up as it's not SSF friendly, or if he does, he only lists it as a high budget end game option. Cloak of Defiance I'd say is a much better option. Sustain will net you higher overall damage than raw power, and it will feel much smoother to play. No one likes going oom in 2 seconds.

On standard, you get a free respec. Just go to the normal lab without ascendancy allocated, and change

Most likely yes.

Golems buffs are probably too strong to pass (360 life regen, 14 phys reduction, 170% damage, and 100 crit + ailment immunity), and you have to take mastermind of discord because archmage needs the mana regen.

Fourth node is a bit more tricky. Heart is destruction is not a bad damage buff against bosses, but the AOE during clear does nothing in this setup (still very good). Shaper of storms is also a nice damage bonus which is active all the time, and you can activate it with anything (not just arc - so ele focus still works as a support gem). The big question is bastion of elements because if turns out to be any good I will think about sacrificing some damage for the defensive bonus and the QoL of reflect immunity.
