I think in the earlier iteration of the build Essence surge was picked up. I guess it was removed later on.
Yeah the Spiritual command wheel isn't impressive. The other nodes you've mentioned are decent possible options. Its all a tradeoff scenario at this stage of the build really. Drop X stat for gains in Y. I might revist Mysticism. I tried it for a while. I just never generated any frenzy charges to really feel great about it. I guess i could invest in sythesized onslaught boots and swap my onslaught flask for a Basalt flask or Rummi concotion. |

My char is a work in progress, I am saving up for daggers and inpulsa's. I am thinking about running Hungry Loop with Storm brand until I can afford better gear. Has anyone run Hungry loop with storm brand variant? If so what are your thoughts please?

Looks pretty good overall. The two things i'd change are Added Lightning Damage instead of Unleash with Inpulsa's and aim for a Watcher's Eye with ES Regeneration to get rid of Zealot's Oath.

Those are new gems that got implemented within the current patch cycle, and I simply haven't played Standard League enough to get them to Level 20.

Looks like a decent alternative tree for Devouring Diadem users. Just to explain why certain choices were made in the main tree:
Essence Surge was never a part of this build. Ethereal Feast is solely for the Total Recovery and Maximum Total Recovery, as those are pretty low by default for leeching ES and people were having sustain issues before those nodes made it into the build. Sanctity helps with sustain, especially while undergeared or when not using Zealot's Oath anymore. The charges part of Mysticism is pretty much irrelevant, those nodes are just taken for the Attack & Cast Speed, Spell Damage and Block. It's not the most optimal defense but better than nothing, with just those nodes we have a 1/5h chance to block attacks, and with 2x Sai's on top 1/3rd chance. I agree that the mana jewel socket is suboptimal, but except for going the top route on the left side for the Ele Dmg socket instead when having enough Dex to spec out of the regular path, there's nothing really that we could do. All in all, the current tree is pretty messy and I really don't like its progression. Next version is already worked out and much simpler and cleaner, and GGG would have to remove the game in the 3.7 patchnotes for it to break.

Since you get most of your resistances from both rings, this would require some bigger changes to work. The two main candidates would be belt and gloves, and unless you're able to get some really good gloves it's probably better to put LS Trap in the ring instead.
The main argument for a Storm Brand Hungry Loop setup is being able to have a 6L LS Trap in gloves and use both CwDt IC and Storm Brand, but that requires a highly optimized gear setup to work properly. twitch.tv/enkivt

I'm not there yet, because some of the gems for the Storm Brand in Hungry Loop still need XP, but I'm planning to do the same. Shouldn't take me too long. I guess by tomorrow I can give some feedback.
Reason I'm planning to put Storm Brand in there and not the LS trap is, because my main focus right now is making room for the 3L IC+CwDt setup. I'm not really looking for a pair of gloves that would grant me a 6L LS setup, yet. They're just insanely expensive when I last checked. Plus there's a big issue with resistances. Really big issue. I'm at the point where I'm starting to pull my hair out over here, trying to juggle it out. Since I'm planning to run an Elder Hungry Loop together with Mark of the Shaper, I'm losing resistances from both rings. On top of it, I'd like to aim for an amulet that rather focuses on dps mods than res. This means, I'll need almost max ele res from gloves, boots and belt. Shaper gloves with 2 trap support mods on that also have that much res are impossible to find. I'm not even sure if that's possible. If they exist, you'll spend a fortune for it. I can only imagine what nightmare it is for people who are trying to fit Kaom's into this. One thing that would make it a lot easier would be sticking to a good rare Vaal Regalia instead of going for the Inpulsa. Theres A LOT of ES and resistances coming from that. But I don't really like the idea of skipping the Inpulsa. |

" Very interesting. i have some remarks/questions : 1) You should consider crafting the "20-30% increased effect of non_damaging ailments on ennemies" on your amulet. It's similar to shock effect and it can allow you to realocate 5 points from static blows to crackling speed and elemental focus. you should always have 150% effect of shock and a higher overall dps 2) How are the crazy 8mods T16 corrupted maps? You don't use enfeeble and your life and ES seems a bit low and far from the 43% ratio cap. you remove some defensive node as well from the passive tree. I have more ES and Life, and even with enfeeble i'm still dying sometimes on the hardiest map and i cant pass to next level. Most of the time is because i'm stupid but i was wondering if the great dps make everything easier or if you still feel a bit squishy? 3) I'm not sure that you should link your arcane surge gems to arc setup in PoB. Not sure about the mecanics, but the arcane surge granted by your watcher's eye doesn't act like an a support gems for each of your skills? gem states 'supported skills deal 10% more spell damage" and i don't think that arc is considered as supported by arcane surge. Anyway its just a detail and if you actually know the mechanics i would be happy confirm or unconfirm my toughts :). 3M dps is huge, I assume corrupted inpulsa help a lot, as I struggle to reach 2M with pretty similar gear. Just missing the corrupted inpulsa. |

" 1) The reason why I've taken points into static blows is mainly to combat the nerfs to base crit chance for spells when using controlled destruction. Since I realized that I have 162% shock effect, i'll move one point from shock chance and effect over to Damage and critical strike chance against shocked within that cluster. Crafting non-damaging ailments on enemies on gear to reach the shock effect cap is like using a crutch. A top rolled inpulsa (35% shock effect minimum) + static blows + Breath of lightning + level 21 Arc is guaranteed 150% shock effect without the need for crafting non-damaging ailments on enemies. 2) I've been doing 5x Sextanted T16 UGS maps with Elder/Shaper influence + 3x scarabs with this gear for a while now and Its clear that this build isnt meant to tank things. My current Effective HP is around 6800 which is more than enough to farm End game content comfortably. Inorder to improve durability, the best way would be to stack HP as stacking ES would give reduced comparable gains for the same value of life in question due to MoM. I dropped the Enfeeble setup as it had low area of effect 3) Since POB doesnt show the dps gains from arcane surge as we're running Eldritch battery, By pseudo linking it as the 7L we can get an estimate. The 10% more spell damage for supported skill can be negated by subtracting 10% spell damage on the Mark of the Shaper ring to even things out. Even if you dont do that subtraction its roughly a 10-20k dps net change which in the grand scheme of things is ignorable. |

You will of course loose the critical chance, is that really make a difference?? storm brand doesn't crit often enough without static blows? 3)yes i know the trick, but you can just move the arcane surge to another gems setup into PoB and you will see a more real arc dps. I just wanna say, for anyone thinking about making a beginner build guide, PLEASE use this more walkthrough-like style, it makes things nice, easy, and clear, always giving just enough information so the reader feels comfortable and competent, and never making the drip of info too slow to be engaging or too fast to be overwhelming.
